He Took Me and Then He Left Me
I lost my virginity in the front seat of a small pick-up to man who was eight years older than me. It was chilled fall night, in a city three hours from my house. We struggled to contort our bodies to fit in the small cab, his large body seeming to tower over my small frame. But we didn't fit, we weren't a good match. He was a graduate student at a big college studying psychology, I was a strong-willed freshmen at a small campus studying biology. He preferred white wedding gowns and I had one too many tattoos. He was my first love and when he was finished, he pulled up his pants and drove away.

My Worst Date Story
#MyWorstDate I had been like six months single when my friend Erick told me that he was going to set me on a date with one of his friends. I didn't want to do this because I wasn't desperate for a man and I didn't want to have a blind date, but he promised me that it was going to be fine, so I decided to trust him. He sent me pictures of the boy and he seemed cute (not hot). The guy texted me and told me to meet at a restaurant near to my college and I accepted.

What Is Love Anyway?
I have been with my husband for 18 years. Married 14. We have four children together and yet we don't live under the same roof. Why, might you ask, do we not live under the same roof??? Well that's easy, because he likes to abuse his prescription pills and lies about anything and everything. And before you go being a judgemental meanie head, there's issues that lead to this point. His family is all kinds of jacked up. I will save you all from that and just say that it has caused him to develope PTSD on top of being bipolar with severe depression. Now to add to all of that, while his mother was pregnant with him, he had an in utero stroke which caused him to develop lesions on his frontal lobes of his brain.

A Date with Disaster
The evening was warm and breezy. Shane was on his way to pick up a girl his friend had set him up with. He was hoping for a nice enjoyable evening. His friend, who had orchestrated the date, had went on and on about how pretty the girl was and how much fun. They'd described her personality as bubbly, in fact. As he drove up the driveway to her house, he noticed it looked nice and normal, after some past experiences he'd had, he was glad to see this.

Adventures in Mansplaining
Where would the world be today if it weren't for the men who feel the moral obligation to explain things to women that they already know? I wonder how many times in history a man took credit for a woman's idea, simply because he was too stubborn to believe her in the first place? Did Benjamin Franklin's wife try to teach him about electricity for years before he decided to SHOW HER by taking his kite out in that infamous thunderstorm? Was Isaac Newton really hit in the head by an apple that was thrown at him by a frustrated woman rather than from a falling tree? These are the things that keep me up at night.

The Distance Isn't So Bad
About a year and a half ago, I met my boyfriend Jason. I met him over a dating app, not expecting it to actually turn into anything so I didn't get my hopes up when he asked me to meet for coffee. I had previously went out a couple times with a guy from the same site, but it turned into a disaster so the fling ended as fast as it started. Because of that, I was skeptical to try again with someone else. Needless to say, I met Jason the very next morning after we started messaging each other the previous night. We met at the Dunkin' Donuts down the road from my parent's house and surprisingly he was staying literally right down the road from me. I ended up running super late for our first encounter, but I barely cared if I showed up to find he had already left. I wasn't going to even give it a second thought because why should he wait 45 minutes for a complete stranger? That was not the case, though. I walked in and realized instantly how his profile pictures had not done him any justice. I was taken aback by how attractive he was. He greeted me with his perfect smile and bought me a coffee. He introduced himself and started up conversation. Jason asked me a lot about myself and he was willing to share a lot about his life as well. I don't need to explain his life details and past experiences, because the main topic here is that I found out he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and he was on leave for Christmas to see his family. I knew he was in the military because of his profile on the app but I didn't give it much thought. I guess I assumed he was working somewhere close, maybe he wasn't even enlisted anymore. He still had around three weeks before he went back and wanted to meet someone new, whether it was just going to be a small fling or a friendship, but wasn't expecting a serious relationship to form any more than I did.

A Real Woman's View on Valentine's Day
I'm sure we all have our fair share of Valentine's Day horror stories. A lot of people do not celebrate Valentine's Day because of their past experiences. A lot of people don't even know the real reason for celebrating Valentine's Day. It is actually a Christian holiday based upon a Christian martyr by the name of St. Valentine. It's a celebration of romance and it used to be celebrated the entire month of February.

Date Night!
Now, I give everyone the benefit of the doubt, or however the saying goes. My mother always told me not to judge a book without reading its content, or it was something about a cover, but essentially she was teaching me not to pass judgement upon people without actually getting to know them and so that was one of the rules I had adopted in regards to dating.
