With the impending release of her ninth studio album, Jennifer Lopez exclusively announced on TODAY that she is heading on tour this summer with her “This Is Me...Now the Tour.”
The 2024 tour will consist of more than 30 cities across North America, kicking off in June and wrapping at the end of August. Along the way she will make stops in Miami, New York City, Los Angeles and Toronto, performing her biggest hits and new songs from her latest album, including “Can’t Get Enough.”
It’s a special moment for Lopez, who is releasing one of her most personal albums to date. She has opened up about how “This Is Me...Now” was inspired by her rekindled romance with husband Ben Affleck. Alongside the record, Lopez is also premiering the accompanying film “This Is Me... Now: A Love Story,” which is described as a “cinematic odyssey” and depicts her journey to love and personal healing. Both will be released Feb. 16.
This Is Me... Now is the ninth studio album by American entertainer Jennifer Lopez. It was released on February 16, 2024, via Nuyorican Productions and BMG Rights Management, marking her first release under this partnership. This Is Me... Now was recorded between May and August 2022 and completed on June 29, 2023; it is heavily inspired by the rekindled romance between Lopez and Ben Affleck as well as their subsequent marriage, with themes of love and self-healing throughout. It is a sequel to Lopez's third studio album This Is Me... Then (2002) and is her first solo studio album in ten years, since A.K.A. (2014). It is the first album to feature no rappers since Lopez's 2001 album J.Lo, although rapper Latto and Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA feature on bonus tracks from the deluxe edition only, respectively appearing on "Can't Get Enough" and "Rebound". Chaka Khan recorded additional vocals for the song "To Be Yours", while British singer-songwriter Raye co-wrote and sang backing vocals on "Dear Ben, Pt. II". Lopez also contributed rap verses to three of the album's songs and co-wrote every one on the album, with production primarily from Rogét Chahayed, Jeff "Gitty" Gitelman and Angel Lopez.
Part of a three-part project documenting Lopez's love life, reunion with actor Ben Affleck and search for love, This Is Me... Now is accompanied by two further components. The second is a narrative-driven musical film titled This Is Me...Now: A Love Story co-written by Lopez, Affleck, Dave Meyers and Chris Shafer, with Meyers also directing the film. Aside from visuals for all of the songs from the album, the film is a stylized and fictionalized narrative, loosely based on Lopez's love life with Affleck and her trials as a serial romantic. It features a cast of celebrity friends and peers, including Fat Joe, Trevor Noah, Jane Fonda, Post Malone, Keke Palmer and Sofia Vergara, among others. The third component, a behind the scenes documentary, called The Greatest Love Story Never Told was inspired by a collection of letters from Affleck to Lopez of the same name and explores the making of both the film and documentary. It will be released on February 27, 2024. All three components were completed simultaneously and were self-funded by Lopez with a budget of around $20 million.
