It's Okay To Be Different

There is nothing with you

By Shania RiveraPublished 6 years ago 4 min read

All around the world, there are those who tell you who you should be, for that instant you really believe it. You believe women and men should be together, no different: women should be with men and only men. Our world has evolved, and so has the people in it. How can someone tell anyone who they should and shouldn't be? Telling those its a sin to be who and what you are; men with men and women with women, those who desire to be the opposite sex because they don't feel and believe they are in the right body. Everyone in the world is different, we shouldn't make others who are different feel less than us, than themselves, we should never turn our back and disgrace those who change. Everyone is beautiful in their own way, special and no matter how many times there are people who are going to say different, I believe in those who changed themselves that they are beautiful and because of who they are they make a difference and give others in the shadows hope and strength and courage. We are full of hatred and disgust but those who walk among us walk with pride and I honor and I idolize those who are different because it has me believe that even though we aren't perfect and that our world isn't perfect, the people believe they are. I believe I am perfect in my own way, I believe gays and lesbians, trans, drag queens, etc are PERFECT!

It is only human to be afraid and to have fear, its human to feel anything that we do and to act the way we do. Its because we are human and there is nothing wrong with that, same as there is nothing wrong with changing who you are. For centuries people have discriminated against each other and have disgraced and disowned those who change themselves, who are different. How is that fair? How is being black that person's fault? How is being Hispanic; born and raised, that child's fault? How can they be the blame when they did not be asked to be born different? So many questions and yet no one has the answers for them. It is not those who want to change themselves fault to being raised, born, or even taught that way, so how can you blame them?

Pride month comes every year and yet every year it is the same thing, people posting and celebrating and putting themselves out there to the world to show everyone who they are without being judged and yet on social media and in family and friends there is always at least one person who ruins the day for everyone. That one person takes the beauty and the shine away from those and destroys it because they are not pleased because they do not believe it is right and although they have freedom of speech and they have their rights it does not mean they can take the rights of others away. You may not believe it is right but it does not give you the right to judge; freedom of speech is not for judgment it is not for discriminating and violence it is not to put those in shame and in the shadows, it is to speak up for those who can't and too afraid to do the right thing and so many people take advantage of it and use it for their needs and their own agenda.

LGBT communities are beautiful inspiring and courageous people in the world, I believe in their hope and their strength, and although I feel sorry for them because of things they go through and the hatred they see towards them, I support them with all my heart. I am only human to feel their pain and their struggles, to help them, to have others who are hiding and afraid to come out and that is okay, you are not alone, no one is ever alone. As they walk around they get starred, they get booed at and things are thrown at them, etc. but they don't give up and I inspire that, people don't give them as much credit but instead dismiss them for who they are. We are only human in this world and the traits, qualities, personalities, are normal to us without and without the understanding of the reasonings. What and who we are there are those who live a full life with love, hope, grace, and understanding; with no judgment to others that are different; they supported. Then there are others who are the opposite and their life is full of so much hate and fear and they sin everyone. We are only human and we can not always act the right way but that is the cost we take for just being human.

The wrongs and rights we make are what we choose and we will forever be in a constant battle with those who are not the same in other people's eyes. I am truly sorry for those who feel the pain and suffering but know I am here to stand with you and never against you. We make our own choice, our own life, and our own fate. We are who we are, nothing more and nothing less, with love on our side I believe nothing can destroy us.
