A complicated affair

The funny thing about love, is that you’ll never know what kind will hit you at the time it happens.

The first kind of love is that of adoration. An adoration for someone’s wholeness; possibly even their soul. This common type of love can manifest in all of types, but standing alone it falls under the category of friendship. A complete and utter love of another human for who they are, with sexual pleasure out of the equation. For those who find themselves marrying into this type of love arrangement, it is honest and can be very beneficial to have as a life long person to lean on. However, many issues can come about when sexual deprivation of ones intimate desires are taking place. It is unfortunately unsustainable when this love is all the couple have to hold on to.

The second type of love, is an irrational flame. A passionate affair so deep and so ferocious, poets throughout history can only describe it in hyperbole with its innate insanity. It’s the kind of love where you would gladly light yourself on fire to keep it alive. A flame hot and scalding will burn through your veins in pleasure and pain simultaneously, when you’re around them. It is a love so powerful you would happily die for it.

This all encompassing energy of passion and pleasure and intimacy can have potential for being one of the most powerfully loving types there is. However, very few survive such a flame. It will eat the couple alive before it will allow it to grow and manifest into the beautiful oasis from its spiritual form, in human form. This love is one that is supernatural; it defies space and time and dimensions. Synchronization between the two parties despite distance is one clear indicator of this love. One minute, a person will think of the other when the phone rings as the other has already called them. It is powerful and it is true. This love in unbreakable, even in times where the fire burns away parts of the heart you think it needs to survive. But with this level of power, it simply cannot be broken. It is the most true undying form, there is, and should be handled with immense care.

The third and most desirable type of love, is that of water. This love is vast and overflowing. With every ebb and flow there is life in between, and an everlasting sense of peace. This is by no means an easy type of love, but one that is far more manageable than a flame. Water is cooling and hydrating when you need it. It can be warm or cold, welcoming in the ripples or rough in the waves. But it will always remain consistent and present at its shore. Through every storm it passes with new calmness. It doesn’t burn away the life you’ve laid before it; but helps it nourish and grow. It is love that you can swim and dive deep into. It is vast and filled with many secrets, and always has room for more. There is comfort in this present water. There is intensity with every wave, followed by sweet kisses of every ripple.

Fire is what made humans different from every other animal in the world, but it is water that has sustained life for all of history. Both have their dangers if gone too far over the edge of pleasure, but they hold such huge pieces of my heart.. it has molded into stone now. The flame with forever be my greatest awakening, to experience another soul through human form. But the water is a part of me now; a part of me that I want to keep diving into. I may never understand everything about this ocean of love, but I’m peacefully bouncing in bliss on my surfboard through life now.

Thank you fire. I’m with water now.
