I'm Going to Kis-Kick Your Ass PT.1

Part 1

Alice’s P.O.V

After the recent break in my dorm building, a couple of us friends decided to take up some self- defense classes just for fun. With my previous experience in MMA, there really isn't a need for me to be here except for Michael. He's been a close friend since we've started university and I maybe have small feelings for him.

I know it's pathetic that I have to resort to taking a class that I clearly don't need to be around him, but a girl is smitten. So far, I've kept this to myself with a few suspicious looks from our other friends, but no one’s confronted me about my crush yet.

I enter the gymnasium, glancing over faces trying to find a familiar one when I hear my name being called. My head follows the sound and I see Michael. He is waving me over with his captivating smile and perfect self. I smile back and take a deep breath before I jog on over to him. This is going to be a long day. I stand next to him and realize that we are the first ones from our group there and my chest immediately tightens.

"Hey Alice." Michael pulls me into his chest for a hug. I hug him back and unconsciously breathe in his mouth watering cologne and laundry detergent.

"Hi Michael, what's new?"

I suddenly feel that this hug is going on for too long and pull back from the hug, trying to control the smile on my face while his smile has gotten bigger.

"Um, aside from my massive English paper due next week and all the fun parties coming up that I'm ready to go to, nothing else." His hand slides down my arm, still holding onto my left hand and runs his thumb across the back. " What's new with you, Alice?"

HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO ANSWER THAT WHEN MY HEART IS EXPLODING?

"O- Oh uh, nothing major for me aside from the movies and shows that I'm binge watching with X and Daniel. They've kind of gotten me into some classic old movies so that's the only thing new with me."

" Oh, that sounds cool. I hope you have fun with them." Michael drops my hand with a neutral expression and heads into his gym bag. Confusion runs across my face to find out where I went wrong. I roll my eyes in frustration as X and Daniel joins us.

"Hey guys, are you ready to kick some burglar butts?" X says with his amateur Bruce Lee moves. Everyone but Michael laughs as they set down their stuff and I start greeting them.

" Hey Michael "

"Sup"

We all take notice of Michael’s cold response in confusion. He walks away to who knows where and everyone else let's it go aside from X.

" Yo, Alice and I see someone we know, we'll be back." X drags me off without waiting for anyone’s response. When we are a good distance away from anyone he places me in front of him and crosses his arms.

" Spill it."

" Spill what?"

" Don’t act dumb sweetheart, you're too cute for that. What happened with you and Michael before we all arrived? I talked to him this morning and we were cool so all of a sudden he's being cold to me. You said something to make him jealous."

" Why would he need to be jealous? And why would you think that something I said can affect him."

" Oh honey, you really aren't acting. You are dumb. EVERYONE knows you like each other. I noticed the first time you guys met because I’m your bestie for a reason, so what did you say to him?"

" Wow, you’re so mean. First for calling me dumb and second for imaging feelings for him that don't exist. All I told him was that we watch a lot of old movies together."

" Alice, why would you talk about another guy to your crush? That's like common sense 101. Would you like it if he talked about other girls to you?"

His question brings reality to my stupidity and I get sad. I would feel terrible if he did what I did. "Now with your reaction I hope you can admit to your crush, so that I can help you. I get severe blue balls from watching all this potential love."

"Ugh fine, yes I'm stupid. Yes I do like him and no I don't need your help. Because he doesn't like me back. If he did, he would have asked me out months ago. Let me suffer in pain until I like someone else."

"Ugh!" X rolls his eyes.

Attention all students, our self- defense class will begin in one minute. Please grab a spot, some water and get ready for us to begin shortly.

"I'm dealing with two children!" X grabs my hand and pulls me back inside to our spot. I'm still bummed about how dumb I've been with Michael, so I didn’t even notice he came back and saw me holding X's hand.

X drops my hand and head nods to Michael who's angrily going through his bag again. He mouths for me to go over there and talk to him when another announcement goes off.

For our first lesson, please grab a partner as we will be sparring with each other. Beginning with punches and kicks.

" Yo, be his partner" X whisper yells. I shake my head furiously.

"GO!"

"No."

"GO!" X pushes me into stumbling back onto Michael who in a nick of time catches me. I glare at X who smirks at me and heads off to go find a partner.

" Oops sorry." I scratch my neck as he stands up. " It's cool, we all know you're clumsy as hell." Michael jokes as all the butterflies in my stomach flutter.

"Hey do you wanna be my partner?"

"Hey do you want to be partners?"

We both laugh and he links his arm around my neck while we wait for further instructions.
