I Hope You Find Someone Who

I hope you find someone who cannot wait to see you and is excited at the thought of spending time with you. I hope you find someone who thinks about you during the day maybe not going so far as to miss you but, notices something that makes them think of you whether it is something silly to share and just something they think you would enjoy. I hope you find someone that is genuinely excited to hear your good news and supportive when things do not go your way. I hope you find someone who finds the peace in the quiet moments with you and just enjoys their time with you. Someone who is calm and peaceful. Someone who can make even the most challenging of times seem manageable from their presence in your life.

While I do have someone specific in mind while I write this. I hope you whoever you are reading it if you do not already have someone in your life like this find them. Not necessarily in a romantic sense. Levels of intimacy like these can be achieved in a number of ways. While romantic seems to be the default do not discount the type of closeness that can come from friendship. Closeness to a person is not created in one way only or more valuable based on how it is created.

I hope you find the person who never refuses a late-night call because they do not want you to have to feel alone even when it is an inopportune time to talk. The person who sees your flaws and inner demons clearly but can still appreciate the good in you. The person who even when you are messing up, self-destructing, or just having trouble making your way in life still sees your potential and cheers you on. The person who never gives up hope on you and reminds you while life can be terrible at times the are good people there to.

Life can be long and hard and make cynics of everyone given the right circumstance or sufficient time. It can be easy to fall into the crowd of nihilistic despair and see no light coming with the dawn when everything seems to be getting worse as time goes on. It has been said it is foolish to hope. There is some logic to this statement. It however is also foolish to dwell in misery saying things will only get worse. The misery option is far easier. This is why I hope you find someone whether it be romantic partner or friend that when the world seems dark and cold they remind you that there is still hope, joy, and small moments of peace in the world as things seem to get worse. I know it can seem that we are utterly disconnected from those around especially in times like these. I know it can be hard to remember better times or if your one of the unfortunate people who has not had better times believe things can get better.

I hope the person you find who does all these things is different from what you expect or are used to. I hope they are able to open your eyes to not only the differences of opinion among people but the commonality that courses through all humanity. I hope they open your eyes to world unseen to you and expand what you think you know and how you view your place in the world. I hope you find someone who not brings you peace and support but changes the way you view yourself, your place in the world, and the world itself.
