Speaking to People

People and Listening

The Voice of Man: We all play this instrument. It’s the most powerful sound in the world, probably. It's the only thing that can start a fight or say, "I love you." However, many people have experience when they talk, people don’t listen to them. And why is that the case? How can we speak powerfully to change the world?.

I mean, there are certain behaviors that we need to avoid. The seven deadly sins are a combination of punishments to please you. I’m not saying this is an exhaustive list, but I think these seven are pretty great habits we can all fall into.

First, crime, speaking negatively about an absence. It is not a glamorous process, and we know it well, the person chatting will contact us in five minutes.

The second is judgment. We know people like this in conversation, It was very difficult to listen to everyone If you know you are being judged and innocent at the same time.

Third, prejudice, you can fall into this. My mother became very pessimistic in the last years of her life, . And it’s hard to hear. I remember one day telling him, "Today is October 1st. And he said, "I know, isn't that scary?" (cheer) It’s hard to listen when someone is so negative. (cheer) And another form of negativity, complaining. Well, this is the U.K. It’s our national sport. We talk about the weather, sports, politics, everything, . But in reality, complaining is contagious grief. It is not spreading sunshine and light to the world.

Excuses,we all have all met this guy. We’ve probably all been this guy. Some people have someone to blame. They just give it to everyone And do not hold yourself accountable for their actions, And again, it’s hard to hear anyone feel that way. penultimate, sixth of seven, . Weave, exaggeration. It degrades our language, in fact, sometimes. For example, if I see something really scary. What am I going to say? (cheer)

And then, of course, this exaggeration would be false, . And we don’t want to listen to people who lie to us. And finally, the debate. Mixing facts with opinions. When the two are combined. You hear it in the air. You know, someone giving you their attention as if it were real. That’s hard to hear. So here they are, the seven deadly sins we need to talk about. These are things I think we should avoid. But is there a better way to measure this? Yes, there is. I would like to point out that there are four really powerful cornerstones, a foundation, If we want to speak our language, we can stand up To have power and make a difference in the world. Fortunately, these things mean one word. The word "hail" also has a great deal of connotation. I’m not talking about the stuff that falls from the sky And it hits your head. I’m talking about this version, . greet or praise warmly, That’s how I think our stories are going to go If we dwell on these four elements. So what do they represent? See if you can figure it out. H, the truth of, in fact, . Be honest in what you say and be direct and clear. Honesty, just being yourself. A friend of mine described it as standing in its own truth. Which I think is an interesting way of saying it. I am honest, you might say, . In fact, doing what you said, And that they can trust someone. Lh is the love.

I do not mean romantic love, But I mean good fun for people, for two reasons. First, I think total honesty may not be what we want. I mean, well, you look ugly this morning. Maybe that doesn’t matter. Of course, because love is angry, loyalty is a big deal. But also, if you really want someone’s best interests It is very difficult to judge them simultaneously. I don’t even think you can do those things at the same time. Hence the hailstones. Besides, that's what you're saying now, . It was like the old song, if you say, . It’s also similar to what you say. You have an amazing toolbox. This tool is amazing, However, it’s a toolbox that very few people have opened. I want to make some insights with you now And just pull out a few tools Whatever you want to take and play with, which increases the power of your content. For example, write your name. Now, the falsetto register is probably not very useful most of the time, . But there is a record in the middle. I wouldn't get too technical about this For any of you vocal coaches. However, you can find where your voice is. So if I touch my nose here, you can hear the difference. If I go down the neck here, . Where most of us have talked about it most of the time. But if you want to lose weight . You have to go down to the box here. Do you hear the difference? We vote for politicians with a low, truthful, . Because we associate depth with power and by authority. That’s the registration. Then we have sound. It’s the way your voice feels. Again, the study shows If we want tones that are rich, soft, warm, . Like hot chocolate. Well if it’s not you, it’s not the end of the world, . Because you can train yourself. Go get a voice teacher.

And there are amazing things you can do Sitting and exercising relaxed To improve your pitch. Then the prose. I love prose science. This is the music-song meta-language what we use to give meaning. The root of meaning in conversation is one. People who say everything in one voice can be really hard to hear If they have no prosody at all. That's where the word "one" came from, . monotonous, or monotonous. Also, we have conventional prose coming out now, . where each sentence ends like a question When in fact there is no question, it is a rumor? (cheer) And if you are doing that often. That really limits your ability to communicate through prose, . Which I think is a shame, So we’re trying to break that trend. pace. I can be very happy to say something really fast, . Or I can equally subdue it to give light, . And of course, the end of that was the silence of our old friend. Nothing wrong with a little silence in the news, right? We don’t have to fill it with ums and ahs. It can be very powerful. In fact, the volume often goes hand in hand with the speed To indicate arousal, but you can only do that with vowels. Where did I leave my keys? (loud voice) Where did you leave my keys? So, those two deliveries have a slightly different meaning. And finally, the part. (loudly) I can get really excited by using volume. Sorry about that, if I stumped anyone. Or, I can make you feel more relaxed and really focused. Some people stretch the whole time. Try not to do that. That’s called sod casting, . (cheer) Caution and discrimination imposing their sounds on the people around them. It’s not pretty. Of course, where all of this comes into play more When you’ve got something really important to do. It would be on stage

There may be a proposal of marriage, . Asking for raises, wedding speeches. Whatever it is, if it really matters, . You owe it to yourself to check this toolbox and the engine that is going to work on it, . And no engine works well without heat. Keep your voice warm. In fact, let me show you how. Would you all like to pause? I'll show you Six vocal warm-up exercises I do before every conversation. Do these every time you talk to someone important. First, reach up, take a deep breath, And sighs, ahhhh, so. Once more, too. Ahhhh, so good. Now we are going to warm our lips, . And we go ba, ba, ba, ba, There is, there is, there is. very good. And now, brrrrrrrrrr, . Like you when you were a kid. Brrrrr. Then your lips should be alive. We are going to be tongue in cheek If they say too much, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la. beautiful. You are really good at this. And then, roll an R. Rrrrrrr. That’s like champagne for the tongue. And finally, if I could just do one Activists call her a siren. It’s really good. It starts with "we" and goes to "aw." "We" is high, "Av" is low. So you go, weeeaawww, weeeaawww. subtle. Give yourself a round of applause. Take a seat, thank you. (Applause) Next time you speak, do them quickly. Now just to conclude, let me put this in context. This is a serious issue here. This is where we are now, right? We don’t talk very well For people who just don’t listen In a general environment dominated by noise and bad sounds. I have mentioned it at various times in this forum. What the world would be like If we say it is powerful People who listened with a positive attitude An environment that was actually fit for purpose? Or to make it a little bigger
