How to Make a Modest Home Look Awesome
Actionable advice.
Where should we start redecorating a modest home? We need to create a clear list of everything we don't need from home. Let's be honest, in any home, there are pieces of furniture that hide accessories and clothes that we no longer wear or use anyway.
When you live in a modest apartment or studio, you have the feeling that nothing fits, that everything is crowded, and that you have no air. No matter what feelings we have, we need to take our hearts in our teeth and get to work, look for solutions, even change our way of life if necessary.
We can't live with the hope that we will be able to buy a bigger house or apartment! We have to do something, first of all, with the current home - that is, to renovate and redecorate it.
Where should we start redecorating a modest home? We must create a clear list of everything we don't need from home. Let's be honest, in any home, there are pieces of furniture that hide accessories and clothes that we no longer wear or use anyway.
Or porcelain trinkets, huge rugs, services, crockery, magazines, newspapers, boxes, and many other things crammed into various massive and unsightly bodies. First, we have to clean up, that is, donate everything we no longer use. We have to admit that we can't change anything in the house, we can't provide light and space to the rooms if we don't give up anything we have.
We must keep only what we use and, from the little we benefit from, we can do acts of charity.
Every block of flats and every studio has a closet. This space is full of … miscellaneous: jars, travel bags, empty bottles, etc. We can renovate this small room, making shelves full height, and we can use it as a huge closet for clothes and shoes.
However, we do not urgently need empty and "miscellaneous" jars ten times a week. By capitalizing on this area, we will get rid of at least one huge piece of furniture in the house. We can close the "small dressing room" with a sliding door because it takes up much less space.
In a small kitchen, however, we can't all eat at once and we don't spend much time in it. One idea would be to make this a semi-open start: that is, without a door, possibly with a glass brick wall. I am sure that a good designer will help you to make to order the ideal parts for the space in question.
Suspended shelves are very useful, as are tall bodies, positioned in corners, with shelves at full height. Or shelves for the culinary accessories you use very often. I know, the whole house will be full of food. Let's not exaggerate, however, we must also make compromises. In addition, a high-performance hood works wonders.
In a studio (even in a two-room apartment) the bedroom is the living room and dining, and office. One more reason to give up accessories that we no longer use. In such a room we clearly need a two-seater sofa bed, with a delicate design, and a folding bed (or two depending on needs).
For other accessories, we can use shelves and hanging cabinets, with closed doors, and corner bodies. Indeed, I can't replace three dressers and a library, but we can't have them all! You can also try chaise longue chairs and puff chairs. Impossible not to find something according to the size and space you have.
And regarding the bathroom, we can make some changes: the wall with the door can be made of glass brick. You will get more natural light and if you use the right finishes, your bathroom will look great.
In addition to all these changes, we must choose warm colors, pleasant combinations, small and simple rugs, steam curtains attached to the entire height of the wall, lighting fixtures with a simple design, and small and large decorative objects.
It is very important that, before making all these changes, you also ask for the advice of a specialist, for sure he will come up with other solutions, suitable for the space where you live! Success!
