Tiwa Savage and co-star Kendrick Sampson

Speaking about her time with "Forgiveness" music video co-star Kendrick Sampson, who also starred on HBO's Insecure, and explaining how she tried to make a move that didn't quite land, Tiwa Savage spoke candidly about the whole thing saying:

TIWA SAVAGE: Ooo Kendrick! He was in "Insecure" but I've never seen "Insecure" so I didn't know. Now, I've seen it, but as at that time [of the music video], I hadn't seen it.

So my manager actually hit me up and we didn't want to use a model for the music video [for "Forgiveness"] because we wanted someone that could act for the kind of video we were doing. So she just sent him, and I was like okay, he's cute, light skin, cute eyes.

And so when he came on set, my makeup and hair stylist was like that's the guy from "Insecure" and I was like okay? And he was just lovely. Like really really sweet. And then, after the shoot, I went back to watch "Insecure" and I was like okaaayyyy! So then I called him up and I was like "heeey!!! I'm still in LA. Are you around?" And he was like yeah, and he was very nice about it.

But I was trying to paint and throw signs -- but nothing. A little bit of me died. I want to unfollow him [laughs]. I'm angry [laughs]. I tried. But I didn't really. I would go under the like "thank you for the video" and the only time I would hit him up was like "we are going to release it" or whatever. But I didn't really really throw it. I tried a little bit, but I didn't. He's lovely! He's so cute.
