For years, little Ghosty lived alone. He was too ghostly to be human, and too human to be ghostly. Unlike the other ghost, Ghosty was more scared than scary.
Ghosty goes to bed like any other night, not knowing what awaits him.
So Ghosty found a fairly comfortable spot, lay down while floating, and promptly fell asleep...
[A mysterious voice] Ghosty...Ghosty...Ghos...
Ghosty: Who...Who are you?
[This other voice]: Come... Come, listen to my voice...
Ghosty: Who are you, and where are you?
[This other voice]: Come...
Ghosty stood up and began to follow the voice, walking in the dark, terrified and alone. H. Hello? (Said Ghosty). However, the voice was no longer audible. Ghosty began to shake as he followed a whisper to his left, then to his right, and finally to his back; the whispers were everywhere.
In his ear, a voice louder than a whisper asks, "Little Ghosty, aren't you cold?" Who are you? (Ghosty responded) ...., come through, I'm a friend who cares about you, you must be cold... But I'm a ghost, and ghosts don't get cold (Answered Ghosty again).
[Voice]: Are you sure? Are you certain you're a ghost? What age are you?
Ghosty: I.. I can't recall anything.
[Voice]: You don't deserve to be a ghost...
Ghosty: Please excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean by...
[Voice]: Enough already! You feel sorry for me! You're supposed to live among ghosts! But they, too, rejected you because you are a failure, and we destroy failures! I was squandering my time! Goodbye, Ghosty!!
While he waited, poor little Ghosty protected himself as best he could... Unless... said the voice.
[The voice]: Given my big heart, you're desperate for one last chance to stay in this world; if you fail, you'll have lost not only your humanity but also your shadow.
Ghosty slowly lifted his head, shaking like a leaf, and looked ahead, where he saw a figure so huge that he couldn't tell the beginning from the end. The figure then lifted his hand and pointed to a child of about ten years old sitting alone in his house's back yard... Ghosty looked at him, then at the spot where his finger was pointing, thinking (What. Why is he pointing at this boy, what is he going to ask me to do, what does he expect from me?), Ghosty turned and looked at the silhouette, sweating profusely.
[The silhouette]: I want you to kill this boy, here and now!
A heartbeat, a mental void... No, no, I can't, why? No, it's impossible, Ghosty thought before looking at the silhouette that said, "DO IT!"
Ghosty: ...
[The sillouhette]: DO IT!
Ghosty: ...
[The sillouhette]: DO IT!
Ghosty: ...
[The sillouhette]: DO IT!
Ghosty: ...... NO!
[The sillouhette]: What did you say?
Ghosty: I said... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! You're not going to force me to kill an innocent child!
[Sillouhette]: You have to do it, or I'll do it for you and then finish you!
The silhouette began to grow, and grow, and grow again, until it was face to face with Ghosty, you wretched, weak little creature, used to stand up to me?! Here's your share *He made a fist and prepared to smack it into Ghosty's face.
STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!!!
The silhouette vanished, and Ghosty awoke as if nothing had happened... Is it all a dream? Ghosty wondered...
