Fact of the Matter

Matter of Fact

By CeeziPublished 6 years ago 4 min read

The fact of the matter is that Black Lives Matter. As a matter of fact, all lives matter but in this moment when we are seeing deadly acts to black lives go unpunished.. It seems only right to address this before we can move forward together.

A young and bright eyed family known as the Smith's walk into an unnamed store. This store had clearly gone to a lot of trouble to advertise their life changing new television set. 'It is revolutionary and will change your life', it claims. The advert proclaimed that if you didn't hurry up and pick one up you would most likely be missing out. The family deliberated and after weighing up the pros and cons decided to save up before trading in their old set and making the upgrade.

Upon arriving home the family realise that the t.v. is actually faulty. It appears that it will not allow anything else in the house that requires electricity to run whilst it does. The Smith family is stunned and confused after trying to get around this with no luck. They visit their neighbours who already owned the television and noticed theirs too was faulty. They in fact no longer attempted to watch it but instead used it in a multitude of makeshift ways around the house. The Smith's return home disheartened as they simply needed a t.v. and not the various other stands and home appliances which their neighbours now used it for.

After trying to make it work the family make their way back to the store to explain the issue and receive a replacement that works as advertised. The store clerk explains that he has heard of various other families who in fact use the t.v. for other things and suggests the family use initiative and follow suit. The Smith's explain the issue with that and how they actually saved up and traded in their old t.v. because they only wanted a brand new television. They suggested that if they couldn't receive an upgrade they would rather receive a refund. The store clerk explained that they do not give refunds but they would gladly take the t.v. back to resell. The Smith's decided to keep it in order to stop another family receiving the same disappointment and instead try to make something of it themselves.

The Fact of the Matter is that was a show of bad customer service and false advertising. As a matter of fact, some people are still able to use the product that was falsely advertised as more than it was originally intended. The point that should be taken seriously is whether there is an issue with the manufacturing of the product or if it is in fact an earlier issue with its concept and design. I find it sad that some people are choosing to blame the family who made the purchase for daring to complain about a product they were wrongfully mis-sold.

Keeping with the analogy, there is no blame attached to those families who purchased products that work as intended and advertised. I feel its important to mention that if someone's 'television' works this does not stop your 'television' from working. Accepting and admitting this is fair does not place you at the factory where the faulty sets were created.

I don't think there are many people in the world who know they are wrong and willingly lead others astray. I believe most people have a number of experiences which leads them to gain knowledge and if they choose to share it then they most likely feel they are helping others to do right also. It is only by being patient with each other and sharing insights that we can have a better idea of the whole issue and how best to approach it. Cancelling each other will eventually lead us to one show and one station which we will all be forced to tune into. That to me is far too much of a backward step and I really prefer the variety we have now.

Having been one of the families who moved abroad having built a good life, these times can appear conflicting to any who know us. The chance to start fresh would have come with excitement as well as a deep fear and urge to throw in the towel should things get to hard. The ego will work with and against you in these times. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, maybe Christ gave me a successful family to reach out to in tough times like this. Having picked the path less travelled and to be emerging on the other side you will suddenly have this motivational story to share. Real struggles that are examples of what is possible but by no means should this be a blueprint. Everyone should discover and walk their own path but we should be making the it clearer for anyone that comes after so they can go further. This is evident all around us through the various technologies and other aids we have around us as people.

I am working hard to better tell stories in the various ways I enjoy consuming myself. I hope this evoked some thought or emotion and I'll make sure to update with links as soon as I have opened up a new avenue. Film. Book. Poetry. Music - https://unitedmasters.com/ceezi
