According to a scientific study conducted in Canada, the ideal sleep should be seven hours, so we spend almost a third of our lives sleeping. But not the quantity, but the quality of sleep is important, because the benefits are extremely important for the body, and it directly influences the physical and mental performance during the day.

Do you want to have quiet nights and dream beautiful? Here's what you need to do!

Unfortunately, the problem of sleep disorders is extremely topical, especially among women, as more and more of them complain of insomnia. The outcome? Fatigue, nervousness, mood swings, migraines…

The biorhythm is disordered.

It is known that the need to sleep differs from person to person and that, out of the 24 hours of a day, the hours of sleep are proportioned by the biological clock. So, if you sleep poorly, suffer from insomnia, wake up a few times a night or fall asleep with difficulty, it means that the internal clock, which manages all your biological functions, is disordered. So you need to re-educate him.

Plants, along with a few simple rules of "sleep management" can be your reliable ally in remedying this problem. Natural and handy solutions can successfully replace drugs that, as we well know, have a number of disadvantages and side effects: memory and attention disorders, difficulty concentrating, addiction.

Insomnia can take many forms, but there are herbal remedies for each of them. Find out from us which ones are right for you, use them and in a short time you will regain the quality of your sleep.

What type of insomnia do you have?

  • You fall asleep easily, you sleep well, but you wake up much too early and you can't fall asleep again. You will find the mixture of plants useful: mace, poppy, and marjoram. Drink a cup of infusion before bed: a teaspoon of herbal mixture in 20 ml of boiling water, infuse for 20 minutes, and strain.
  • You can't fall asleep because of your emotions (a difficult exam or an important interview awaits you). Make an infusion of hops. To get a stronger effect, you can combine hops with valerian flowers.
  • The tea is obtained from a teaspoon of the plant (or mixture of herbs) and a cup of boiling water. Drink two cups - the first immediately after dinner, and the second just before going to bed.
  • You have interrupted sleep - you fall asleep easily, but you often wake up during the night. Basil is the plant you need: a teaspoon to 200 ml of boiled water, let it infuse for 15 minutes. Drink a cup around 18.00 - 19.00 and one at 21.00.
  • You are “the victim of the time difference. Drink lemon balm tea, one cup three times a day (morning, noon, and afternoon). It is prepared from a teaspoon of the plant and a cup of boiling water. Marjoram (one cup in the afternoon and one in the evening) and dried poppy flowers (one cup before bed) can also be useful.
  • You are nervous, overly emotional, thinking about all sorts of things that keep you from falling asleep. Drink a cup of lime, hops, and rosehip infusion at lunch and in the evening, after dinner. Prepare with a teaspoon of herbal mixture in 200 ml of boiled water, let it infuse for 10 minutes, then strain. Menopause disorders are the cause of your insomnia. Opt for the sage infusion (a teaspoon of dried flowers in a cup of boiled water) and drink one cup at lunch and one after dinner.
  • Your sleep suffers from digestive problems (difficult digestion, bloating, etc.). Make an infusion of basil, lemon balm, and hops (a teaspoon of the herbal mixture, in equal amounts, in a cup of boiling water) and drink it before bed.

Hot infusions

As a general rule, herbal infusions are drunk fresh, warm, possibly sweetened with a little honey, during the day and, obligatorily, before bedtime. A cure can last between 7 and 14 days, but sometimes insomnia subsides after the first cup of tea.

Do not forget! If the plants have no effect and insomnia continues to torment you several times a week, consult your doctor. He will determine the cause and recommend the appropriate treatment.

Insufficient sleep ages

An American study showed that people who sleep only 4-6 hours a night have memory disorders.

Moreover, overseas specialists have determined that the blood pressure and blood sugar levels of those who sleep poorly are similar to those of 60-year-olds.

A woman sleeps an average of six hours and 10 minutes a night, which is 2-3 hours less than she would need.

If you sleep 4-6 hours/night for 6 months, you are four times more exposed to depression.

Rules for sleep management

It is estimated that one in two people has trouble sleeping. The causes invoked are almost always the same: stress, noise, worries, fast pace of life… Here are some basic rules of a healthy lifestyle:

  • Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time, to adjust your biological clock.
  • After 14:00, reduce the consumption of stimulants (coffee, tea, tobacco, alcohol, spices), and give them up in the evening.
  • Ventilate the bedroom well before bed.
  • Don't use the bed to watch TV.
  • Do not overdo it with intense physical activity in the evening, because your body temperature rises and you will fall asleep harder. The best time to play sports is between 16:00 and 18:00.
  • Try not to sleep too much in the afternoon (maximum one hour).
  • Breathe abdominally. It is an effective stress reliever and helps you fall asleep easily.
  • Eat only light, easily digestible foods in the evening.
  • Do not drink a lot of fluids before going to bed, so that you do not have to wake up during the night.
  • If you have problems with your peripheral circulation (you have cold feet), which can delay falling asleep, keep your feet in warm water before going to bed.
  • To combat insomnia, you can use the plants not only in the form of infusion but also in the form of volatile oils or aromatic baths.

Essential oils of basil, thyme, lavender, or orange. Use only one aroma at a time to fully enjoy it: put four or five drops in the aromatherapy lamp and let the smell spread in the bedroom, about 30 minutes, two hours before bedtime.

Aromatic baths are done half an hour before bed. Make an infusion of 100-150 g of the plant (lavender or lime) and three liters of water, strain it and add it to the bathwater.

With volatile oils it is even simpler: add 20-30 drops of volatile essence in the bathwater. It is good that before using a volatile oil in the bathroom to check if it does not cause allergies: put a drop on the skin and, if after 10-20 minutes no allergic reaction appears, you can take a quiet bath.

An aromatic bath lasts at least a quarter of an hour, but not more than 45 minutes. Careful! A maximum of two aromatic baths are made per week.
