"Davido is dead..." - Channels TV Correspondent Brings First Words From Davido's Camp

This morning, I woke up to the very devastating news that Davido's son Ifeanyi had passed away. At the beginning, nothing had really been confirmed so I wasn't going to come here and share a story with you guys that wasn't confirmed. I had to wait. Now, we have a lot more information. The police are doing their investigation. It turns out that Davido and Chioma weren't around during the time of Ifeanyi's passing, the child had been left to the care of minders who are now being interrogated. Condolences have been coming from everywhere. What is happening is unimaginable and my heart goes out completely to Davido and Chioma at this time. As expected, both parents have remained completely quiet on social media. People are eager to know how they're doing.

Now, Channels Television entertainment correspondent, Bidemi Dairo, is the first one bringing us word from Davido's camp. As expected, Davido is crushed. Here is what Bidemi had to say about what he was told from Davido's camp.

Speaking during the segment, Channels correspondent Bidemi was asked: "You've been having conversations with people who are close to Davido and probably Chioma herself. Really sad news coming today, for a lot of people really shocking that this happened on Monday. But when did this become real news for you because there was a lot of conversation at the beginning. What was real? What was not? When were you certain that this really happened?" He responded:

As a parent myself, it's quite painful to speak about the death of a three year old and say less of how much Davido and Chioma may be feeling at this time. So when the story started making the rounds as a rumor initially, it was that of disbelief. People didn't want it to be true. People were hoping that it was some expensive joke. And of course, the people around him were not immediately available to answer to questions. But then at some point, I got across to someone who didn't want to be named and he confirmed to me that Davido was extremely devastated and that it did happen. And then later this morning, the police confirmed to us and it became very clear that we had a tragedy in our hands.

"Understandable why they're not saying anything at this time. Their grief must be unimaginable. As we're learning, they were not at home when this happened. They left the child with a few of the domestic staff who were supposed to be minding him. What are you hearing from those around him about their state of mind at this moment?"

So the first person I spoke to, the first thing he said to me was "Davido is dead, Davido is dead". And of course I could imagine what he meant because of course Davido has shown over the years that he is a doting father to his kids. But he said in an interview as well that Ifeanyi is quite special. His only son. And he just celebrated his third birthday with him. So you could feel that closeness with him. He's over the years had to deal with death within his circle so this is going to be really painful for him. And as the guy said, he's completely devastated.

I cannot even imagine. May the soul of Ifeanyi rest in perfect peace. My heart and prayers go out completely to Davido, Chioma, and Ifeanyi's entire family, friends, and loved ones. This is completely heartbreaking.
