When you are going through the day to day journey that this life is, it can be very difficult to stay centered with all of the distractions that are prevalent in todays world. There is so much more information at all of our disposal than there has ever been in our history, and with all that knowledge and information, it can be quite a task in knowing which direction in life you wish to take, considering the number of directions is essentially limitless.
Life gets frustrating when you feel a lack of direction in knowing which way to go, and when that happens it can lead to over abundance in stress and also cause us to live in that stressed out state in what can feel like an ever repeating cycle. For me it took a major life upheaval to challenge the way I was living, and help point me in a direction that has not only been much healthier mentally, but emotionally and physically as well.
So many of us have lived the majority of our lives in a state of what for me felt like auto pilot, where I was never in the moment, but instead was always either worrying about things that could happen, or shaming myself over things that have happened in the past. Once my wake up call came, I got to work. Sometimes it takes a life altering event to wake us up to the chaos in which we have been living, and even though the circumstances of the event in and of itself may be traggic, the fruits of change that it can generate are profound and bring such substantial meaning and purpose to the lives of those who may go through such things.
I am still a work in progress, as we all are, but something that I have noticed for the brief time I have been implementing that which I have learned has made a substantial change in my mental state, and my performance at work and at home, is the concept of Wu Wei or Effortless Action. What this process consists of is not allowing the auto pilot mentality to lead your actions any longer, by remaining in the present.
This is not as hard as it may sound, but can be started with something as simple as staying present while you are brushing your teeth, washing your hands, doing dishes, or pretty much anything that you do, which usually is done with a distracted mind. The reason it is so important to live in the present at least for me, is because when I am constantly focused on something other than that which I am currently engaged in, it leads to increased stress, increased inconsistencies in behavior and a higher propensity for mistakes, and can also lead to bigger more life altering events to occur, simply due to the lack of presence.
One thing that needs to be cultivated from a fundamental level in my personal opinion, is present centered attention, and emotional regulation. So many people live their lives reacting to external stimuli in an unhealthy manner, instead of responding with a centered and grounded approach.
Life is a very precious thing and when you are allowing yourself the time and space to live in the present with cultivated gratitude and compassion which is emanated towards all others, you can truly recognize the divine presence within not only yourself, but others, which we all inherently possess. Do not allow the storms to break you down, but allow them to create resilience, and hopeful determination. Endeavor to be better tomorrow than you were the prior day.
We all have the choice to live for today, stop worrying about tomorrow, and stop regretting yesterday.
Brightest Blessings.

Knowing the path is far different in experience than walking the path. Knowledge only becomes truly useful once it is implemented in ones life, so that which I write is that which I have experienced, hopefully my words may offer solace.
