5 of Today's Popular Dating Apps Debunked
Serial dating is definitely not a hobby or pastime of mine, it is simply a means to an end—the dating app end. I serial date myself to death in hopes of finding that one date that makes it all worth while. The one date for whom I would gladly delete every single last app, so we could live happily ever after and in love forever. Until then, the search continues and my dating stories continue making my friends laugh till they cry. All this dating probably makes me an expert by now, especially when it comes to using all the dating apps available in the App Store. I’ve used them all, way more than anyone should ever use in this lifetime and the next. Here is what I found in my dating app experiences and what I think about each of the apps in comparison to the rest.

Love Unexpected
It was in the early times of December 2012, cold weather and a week until Christmas. New Year was coming right after that, and I knew that I had to change my life around; be different, do something new. I felt like my life was missing something. I knew I had to make a lot of changes. Turning my dull life upside down, I wished that I had guidance, but I was just lost and felt like I had no one around me! I didn't know how or where to start to make a change; I felt lost. Friends didn't seem like friends to me; family, well, I felt so distant from them. I felt like no one understood me. In a world full of people, I asked myself how could I feel so empty and alone? And if the sun shines everyday in this dull weather, why can't I smile and see the light in my darkness?

My Shoe's Tinder: A Complex Truth
November 2016 saw the American people decide their 45th President. Across the atlantic, a heartbroken, semi-functional 21-year-old drama student with the emotional intelligence of a swan fighting a bin made an equally profound decision. In the third year of university—when I wasn’t stealing condiments from house parties, drinking £3 bottles of merlot five times a week, or showing my testicular surgical scar to my housemates—I was making healthy and mature decisions about my adult life. One of these healthy and mature decisions involved making a Tinder account for my shoe. It seemed like a funny idea at the time, and it would mask the pain. "Oh, Luke?" I imagined someone saying to someone else. "He's the guy who made a Tinder account for his shoe!" "That guy sounds really fun and cool. I would like to meet him. Maybe he'll have some advice about never being hurt." This was a fool-proof plan towards a healthy and mature lifestyle, and no one could prove otherwise.

Modern Romance
Before the emergence of the internet, society was vastly different from the society we live in today. Without certain technologies, everyday tasks took time and energy. The goal and purpose of most technologies we have today is to make our lives easier. However, in making life easier, we have altered our society in ways that most people do not notice or think about. Although the idea itself is conclusive and obvious, technology’s effect on modern society is an idea that is argued about and debated often. Young people around the world have a deep love and interest in technology, while many scholars believe that technology can be detrimental to one’s health. One specific aspect of technology that is highly discussed is online dating. Following the invention of Match.com and eHarmony, a new platform called Tinder has arisen. Tinder works by scrolling through option after option by swiping right or left. By swiping left on a person, you discard their profile, rejecting a possibility of getting a match. Swiping right means that you are interested in that person and there is a possibility of matching with that person. A match happens when both users swipe right on each others’ profiles. Tinder is extremely controversial itself. Some feel it is superficial, while some feel Tinder is a fast, easy way to meet new people. Online dating, however used by millions of people around the world at varying ages, is debated by many.
