Cancel Culture......

So I have a great job, like a really great job. I get paid honestly too much money. I get paid weekly....which is nearly impossible to find. I work in customer service but have limited contact with customers....kinda the dream. I have a job during a pandemic and it’s an amazing company to work for. I absolutely love it.

So anyway, I routinely see people I know at work, right? In this case a former boss I actually really liked but she moved on to greener pastures and I ended up leaving that company shortly after her.

So ex boss recently comes into my work, also recently posted some very absuive and very racist memes on her social media page. (We happen to also be Facebook friends)

I confronted her about this and told her that my company and my own personal views don’t seem to align with hers. If she truely felt this way, she could easily find a different store to go to.

That was my first mistake.....

You see, kindly suggesting that an adult with choices, makes a better overall choice for themselves....in order to avoid conflict.....is the wrong thing to do.

It’s so wrong in fact, that this persons significant other and several of her friends decided to try to get me fired. They screamed at me, they called my general manager. Not my regular manager, but my GENERAL MANAGER. No idea where they even got the number. I don’t even know that number and I work there. They made up lies about me harassing, threatening, and calling them names.

None of which is true or can be proven.

The main person doing this (my ex bosses boyfriend) had the audacity to scream “You’re using cancel culture cause you can’t handle free speech”

Me. I’m the one using cancel culture. By being cancelled.......after making a Perfectly reasonable suggestion

Keep in mind the free speech in question was racist and abusive rhetoric.

It physically hurts my head and my heart that people this disgusting actually exist.

Anyway, I wish I could say karma got the best of this person but unfortunately.....I got fired. The company that I love so dearly, sided with this vile person rather than a loyal employee. The company’s logic? I shouldn’t have told a customer to shop somewhere else. No word on the harassment itself. Just a simple “Well that’s against our policy”.

Their policy is simply that any customer can say and do anything at their stores. They can abuse and threaten employees. They can spew racism and say shitty things. Their employees however, can’t stand up against racist, or abusive behavior. And if you mention the company? Your ass is grass. No justice. No peace.

I’m going to appeal my termination and I can reapply to the company in 6 months. Plus I might just chill and collect that SWEET unemployment everyone talks about. Since this pandemic is only getting worse.

The moral of the story here kids....is cancel culture sucks. And it sucks even more when it’s used to punish good people.

Watch out for those Psycho Karens, Folks. Karens get what they want in vile destructive ways. Don’t make the same mistakes I have.
