Toxic Romance

Love at First Sight

I never believed in love at first sight until I met Nelson. The first day I saw him I tried my best not to entertain the fact that he liked me. Even though I liked him too I had enough going on at the time. Things were complicated in my life already and I didn't need to add on to the chaos. I was in an unsuccessful marriage that I was dreading to get out of but I didn't want to involve an innocent person. I avoided any small talk with Nelson and kept things cordial. That didn't stop him though! He was very persistent and one day I gave in. He came into my job just as he normally would but this time he looked as if he was getting off work. I don't know what it was but seeing him in his construction working attire gave me butterflies. He walked up to the counter like he would everyday and he order his usual, a Jumbo Jack with cheese no pickles. I usually didn't take his order but today I did. Nelson looked up at me, smiled, and said hello. His smile was to die for! I hesitated for a second and struggled to say hello back to him. He laughed and I just stood there and smiled. He then asked for my number but we were in the middle of a rush so I couldn't give it to him at that very moment. I continued to take the other customer's order but I never took my eyes off of Nelson. By the time a had a chance to give him the paper I had written my number on he was out the door. I was sad at first but then I remembered that he comes at the same time everyday so I would definitely see him again.

Days passed and he still hadn't come back and I couldn't help but wonder where he was. Before I knew it weeks passed and then a whole month passed. I began to get worried because it wasn't like him not to at least show his face. I started asking his friends where he was but no one had seen him. I thought to myself, "Maybe it wasn't meant for you to give him your number." I went on with work as I usually would but I couldn't get Nelson off of my mind. Then one day I was working and he walked right into Jack in the Box with that beautiful smile on his face. He walked up to the counter but this time he wasn't ordering his favorite special made burger. This particular day I was working the drive thru so I really couldn't pay attention to what he was doing. When I got a chance to breathe and take a break he was standing at the edge of the counter smiling at me. I tried to ignore him because I was still mad at him for the little disappearing act he pulled. I walked up to the front counter and spoke to him. He asked for my number again and this time I stood right at the register and wrote my number down for him. He asked what my name was and I responded like the smarty pants that I am " As long as you've been coming in here you still don't know my name?" He walked away with a big grin on his face and said "Okay Jessica." My heart began to smile because of the fact that he actually knew my name. Things got real intense with between us really fast and despite the situation I had going on at home I went along with the feelings that I had.

I never thought that I would ever be interested in another man again but God had other plans. Stay tuned to find out how things go between Nelson and I...
