As I Reach for N5 Billion in Box Office Records, Here’s My Only Request - Funke Akindele
Funke Akindele makes public plea

Nigerian actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has solidified herself i the Nigerian movie industry as the box office queen with a slew of back to back hits, including Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Battle on Buka Street, and last year's effort A Tribe Called Judah which ended up being the first Nollywood movie to make over N1 billion in cinemas.
Now, as Nollywood’s reigning box office queen, Funke Akindele is setting her sights once again on breaking the record she held last year with the release of her upcoming movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa, which is scheduled to hit cinemas nationwide on December 13, 2024.
It is a very ambitious target, but one that Funke Akindele is optimistic about being able to beat. The actress who has been promoting the movie for months now, said at a recent Exhibitor Soirée, that she believes she can beat the record through faith. Her exact words:
FUNKE AKINDELE: We can beat N5 billion. I have faith.
But while she is optimistic about beating the record, there is one thing that frightens Funke Akindele, especially after her experience with Battle on Buka Street. Now, Funke Akindele is taking the time out to plead with movie goers and asking everybody for just one thing as she aims to break the N5 billion record. Here is what Funke Akindele had to say.

Crying out publicly, and begging people in advance to avoid piracy of her movie as she tries to break the record, Funke Akindele pleaded with everyone saying:
FUNKE AKINDELE: I plead with you guys, I know things are hard now but I want to beg you to be security conscious. People use their phones to film. Remember what happened to us last year, with A Tribe Called Judah? Please let’s be very careful, let’s be vigilant. It’s our movie. We want to make money from it. Imagine what we would have made if A Tribe called Judah wasn’t pirated. But we thank God. This is another opportunity, please protect this film for me. Please I beg you in the name of God, no phones. We had to record a video to tell people, no recordings.
What do you think about what Funke Akindele had to say? I have high hopes for her, and I hope she is able to break the record this year again.
