Did you just find out you're pregnant and you're going to be a mom for the first time? In the contemporary era, there are many sources of information.

But the best advice for new moms is given by experienced people, ie those people who already have children (eg: mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, girlfriend). A future mother can't even imagine how her life will change, except when she will experience it in her skin.

In general, things will be different from what mom imagined they would be. Things will be a little easier for those women who have a sister/girlfriend who has a child and with whom she is in close contact because they are familiar with certain aspects of the role of mother.

The most important tips for new moms related to pregnancy

Find out which are the best gynecologists in maternity hospitals and choose one to your liking. It is very important to have a good relationship between you and the gynecologist from the beginning, keeping in mind that he will be with you both during pregnancy and at birth.

Do all the necessary tests (both for you and the baby) to make sure everything is fine and not to "wake up" with a surprise at birth.

Take the vitamins prescribed by your doctor during pregnancy because you cannot take from the diet all the necessary sources of vitamins for both you and your baby. When you are pregnant, the vitamins you assimilate from food go to the baby, so a vitamin supplement is needed to cover your body's needs.

Don't eat for two! This is a myth. If you eat for two, you will get "for two". It is important to eat as much as you feel the need during pregnancy, whenever you are hungry. It is recommended to eat a little and often.

Try not to gain more than 20 kg during pregnancy! At birth, you will lose only about 5 kg, and you can easily get rid of the others in a few months. But if you gain too much weight, you will have difficulty reaching your original shape, plus you will be a mother and you will not have time to diet.

Buy everything you need for your baby before you give birth! From the child's room to clothes, diapers, bottles, and even maternity luggage. After you give birth, you will no longer have time to shop in the shops.

Be very careful of the emotions you experience during pregnancy! The child feels what the mother feels: if the mother laughs - the child is happy, if the mother is upset - the child is sad, if the mother is stressed - the child is agitated. Specialist research has shown that maternal prenatal stress influences infant temperament at 6 months, meaning that mothers who are stressed during pregnancy will have babies with a more difficult temperament (eg, crying, restless, sleeping hard, sad, etc.).

Get as much rest as possible! After you give birth, you will not have time to sleep peacefully!

Some tips for new moms related to childbirth

Make a visit in advance to the maternity hospital where you will give birth! This way you will get acquainted with the place, you will know what to take from home, and you will alleviate your emotions.

Choose with your gynecologist the way you want to give birth (natural, cesarean, in water, etc.).

Prepare your maternity luggage at least one week before the gynecologist's scheduled date (in case you give birth prematurely).

Talk to your gynecologist about breastfeeding and prepare your breasts for breastfeeding.

Tips for new moms after the baby is born

The breasts are already ready for breastfeeding, but breast milk comes only when you breastfeed. Ask the nurses about breast squeezing methods and don't waste money buying breast pumps because they are a bit expensive and won't help you much.

Immediately after birth, start wearing a tummy tuck! They are found in pharmacies and are not expensive. The belly will help you a lot to get rid of the "belly" after birth. It is good to wear it both during the day and at night. The longer you wear it, the faster you will get rid of it. After the 6 weeks of pregnancy you can start doing sports, and in two months from birth, the "belly" will no longer exist. The tummy tuck will also help alleviate back pain after birth.

The maternal instinct is formed after birth. You will soon get used to the baby and you will understand what he wants when he cries.

Keep calm! The child will experience the emotions that his mother experiences. If you are nervous, the baby will become restless and cry.

Take care of your diet! If you are breastfeeding you need to eat healthy so that everything you eat reaches the baby. You are not allowed to eat onions, cabbage, beans, chocolate (because it contains caffeine). Avoid fats, fried foods, and pork.

Do not drink coffee, acidic juices, energy drinks, or alcoholic beverages because they contain caffeine!

Do not smoke while breastfeeding because nicotine gets into breast milk!

The most important tips for new moms related to married life

Do not have sex during pregnancy! It is best to restart your sex life about 2–3 months after birth when you feel ready.

It is normal that after giving birth you no longer have the same sexual appetite as before because maternal hormones have taken over the sex hormones.

Don't neglect your partner! Even if the child is now in the center of your attention, try to make time for your partner as well.

Let Dad get involved in raising the baby too! Couples in which both partners take care of the baby are happier and more stable.

Do not argue with your partner in front of the child! The child must grow up in harmony and see that he has a stable and happy family. Conflicts between parents can affect a child's language development.

Don't be alarmed if you feel a decrease in the couple's happiness! According to specialized research, marital happiness decreases in the family stage with small children, and it is a normal thing, but it will grow back as the child grows.

Lots of tips can be given to new moms, but these are the most important ones any expectant mom should know. Anyway, experience is what teaches you the most, so success and good luck, future mom !!
