Popular Nigerian actors Saidi Balogun and Fathia Williams (previously Balogun) were formerly considered "top dogs" in the entertainment world. It's evident that their acting careers have taken a back seat, but that doesn't mean they don't act now and then, just not as frequently as they did in the 1900s and 2000s.

These two light-skinned performers, both born on February 5, are well-known in the Nollywood business.

Saidi Balogun, Fathia Balogun's ex-husband, is a veteran Nollywood actor, filmmaker, movie director, and producer. Saidi Balogun was born in Enugu on February 5, 1967, despite being from Oyo State. He is 56 years old right now. In 1978, he entered the entertainment world by appearing on the renowned NTA program Youth Today. In 1989, he released his first film, City Girl. The actor has been in the film industry for almost two decades, long before his estranged wife, Fathia.

Apesin (2006), Modupe Temi (2008), Eti Keta (2010), Family On Fire (2011), Banana Island Ghost (2017), Lara and the Beat (2018), Light in the Dark (2019), and The Legend of Inikpi (2019) are among the films in which he has appeared (2020), etc. Saidi is the current president of The Golden Movie Ambassadors Association of Nigeria (TGMAAN).

Fathia Williams, formerly known as Fathia Balogun, is a veteran Nollywood actress, movie producer, director, and businesswoman. Born Fathia Akorede Adunni Williams on February 5, 1969, in Ikeja, Lagos State, the 54-year-old actress is originally from Ukwara town, Waterside Local Government Area, in Delta State.

Fathia Balogun debuted in the film industry in the 1990s and has appeared in a number of films since then. Faithia ended up becoming an actress by coincidence. Her uncle, Alhaji Fatai Teniola, invited her to fill in for an actress who was unable to appear in one of their film productions, and that is when she played her first role in the film titled 'Ta Lo Pa Chief.'

Aje meta 1 and 2 (2008), Farayola (2009), Shola Arikusa, Mokalik(2019), Basira Badia (2016), and Anikulapo (2016) are some of Fathia Balogun's most significant films (2022)

What we know about Fathia Williams and Saidi Balogun’s marriage

The marriage of Fathia and Saidi has always piqued the imagination of many Nigerians. They were one of the first Nollywood couples and one of the few celebrities whose marriage was the envy of many. The former couple has finalized their divorce. Many people are unaware that their marriage has been in disarray for many years. Fathia and Saidi's marriage lasted roughly six years until it ended in divorce.

On September 7, 2000, the couple married at the Ikorodu Marriage Registry in Lagos State. Their marriage produced two children, a boy named Khalid and a girl named Aliyah Balogun. Prior to their marriage, however, both sides had children from prior marriages, two from Saidi's side and one from Fathia's side.

The ex-couple appeared to be content with their marriage at first before splitting up in 2006, citing irreconcilable reasons. According to rumors, they split up due to accusations of adultery from both parties.

Saidi Balogun officially filed for divorce in April 2013, about seven years after their separation, and it took several months for the marriage to be dissolved. Their marriage was officially dissolved on January 17, 2014, by Lagos High Court Judge O.O Atilade.

Following their divorce, Fathia Balogun flatly refused to abandon her husband's surname 'Balogun,' causing a media frenzy at the time. According to the actress, she chose to preserve the name in order to maintain her industry identity.

It was later rumoured that Saidi sued Fathia for not dropping his name, but he denied the accusation.

To the amazement of the public, Fathia Balogun finally dropped her estranged husband’s name three years later in 2017. The actress replaced her ex-husband’s name with ‘Williams’— her maiden name.
