"Some people say that rural areas have poor conditions and few opportunities, but in my opinion, it is a big stage for young people to pursue their dreams." Fan Litao, a college student from Zhao County, Hebei Province, gave up the opportunity to work in a big city and returned to his hometown to start his own business. He contracted nearly 4,000 mu of land to establish a family farm and became a professional farmer.

A post-80s college student's "Professional Farmer Dream"

When I met Fan Litao at Lewo Family Farm in Xinzhaidian Industrial Park, Zhao County, he was inspecting and repairing farm machinery and tools.

Two years ago, Fan Litao, a college student born in the 1980s, and four other college students in the same village gave up job opportunities in the big cities and returned to the countryside to establish a family farm. They contracted nearly 4,000 mu of land in three neighboring towns and 10 villages and became a new type of professional farmer.

"We have established a sound land transfer system, mainly through trusteeship and semi-trusteeship. The trusteeship farmer signs a land transfer contract with the farm entrusts the land to the farm for full management, and regularly collects transfer fees according to mu. Semi-trusteeship farmers pay the farm below market price and the farm provides the whole service such as unified farming, large-scale irrigation, and mechanical spraying." Fan Litao introduced said.

"Soil testing and formula fertilization to improve fertilizer utilization rate, unified control, and control to reduce planting costs..." As a new type of professional farmer, Fan has his own set of management ideas. He applied the industrial production concept and modern enterprise management mode to agricultural production. Through the use of new technologies, reducing labor costs, and other measures, he realized agricultural cost savings, quality improvement, and efficiency improvement.

At present, Fan has invested 1.2 million yuan through loans and self-financing to purchase agricultural machinery and tools and pay for land transfer fees. "I expect to make a profit of about 200,000 yuan this year and recoup all my investment in another three or four years." Fan Litao said confidently.

Establish a "benefit people granary", and help fellow villagers to solve the problem of grain storage

"Many farmers are not in a hurry to sell their grain, but prefer to save it for sale." In the process of running the family farm, Fan found that for the elderly and women who stayed at home to farm, bagging and transporting the grain after harvest was a very troublesome thing, and storing and keeping the grain became a big problem.

In June this year, Fan found a good way to solve the problem of grain storage for farmers -- the establishment of a "benefit grain warehouse", and signed an agreement with farmers following the principle of sharing benefits and risks. "We buy the farmer's wheat at a guaranteed price, and if the price is higher when the wheat is sold in the future, we share the premium with the farmer in a 2:8 ratio. On the contrary, if the selling price is lower than this price, we will share the difference loss in a ratio of 7∶3 to protect the interests of farmers to the greatest extent and let farmers rest assured." "Fan said. More conveniently, farmers can withdraw their grain at any time, or sell it to "benefit granaries" for cash.

"The grain stored in the 'Huimin granary', save the trouble and worry, is a sure-fire business!" Zhao County Shijiazhuang village farmer Bai Pinghui said happily, that this college student farmer's brain is spirit, "Hui people granary" to help farmers solve the big problem.

Since the operation of the "Huimin granary", more than 50 farmers and two large planting cooperatives have stored 400,000 jin of wheat. "In the future, farmers will not only be able to store their grain in the 'Huimin granary', but also be able to exchange flour, cooking oil, and other daily necessities at the same price. They will also be able to enjoy door-to-door delivery services with a single phone call." Fan Litao, born in the 1980s, is full of longing for the future.
