From the first day I met Arlene; she left her mark. I would always rave to my mother about her. According to me, my mom knew her as the clever woman who spoke so eloquently. Every time she entered a room and opened her mouth, she commanded the space. I was always drawn to her energy; so electric that you couldn't enter the room and not feel it. Arlene walks with such poise, grace, and finesse; carrying an attitude of positivity that is too contagious not to catch. She inspired me to stand boldly for the things I believe in and accept the woman I am. Who would have known a relationship between a then high school student, and a community leader would develop into what it is today? Arlene helped me to see the power in my individually. She encouraged me to explore my big, crazy ideas, and pushed me when I became scared and tried to back away.

Our friendship now is one with many layers. We can sit down all day, make jokes and watch endless movies. We can have deep discussions about anything under the sun. We can share our big ideas and bounce off of each other. We can talk business and strategize for the future. We can correct each other and share our opinions.
