Over 90 and still going strong!

We love to see prayers of long life coming to fruition! A lot of Nigerian celebrities who celebrated their 90th birthdays years back are still alive and kicking today which is of course what we all pray and wish for them.

Today, we will be counting down 5 of our oldest Nigerian celebrities who will this year be celebrating birthdays of over 90 years. Are you ready to see who is on the list today? Well then, let's jump right in.

1. Afe Babalola

Yes, the person Afe Babalola is still very much alive and well. For most people the name 'Afe Babalola' is only but the name of a university in Nigeria and although we all know it was named after a person, many people assume the man behind the name is no more. Well, this is not the case. Nigerian lawyer and founder of Afe Babalola University was born in 1929, is currently 93 years old, and is still very much alive and well.

2. Mabel Segun

Nigerian poet, playwright and writer of short stories and children’s books, Mabel Segun born in 1930 will be this year turning 93 years old and is still kicking. She’s most popular for writing books Olu and the Broken Statue, The First Corn, and The Twins and the Tree Spirits.

3. Bakare Gbadamosi

Yoruba poet, anthropologist, and short story writer Bakare Gbadamosi most popular for works such as The Moon Cannot Fight, Ijala: animal songs, and Not Even God is Ripe Enough was born in 1930 meaning he will be turning 93 this year. According to reports, Bakare Gbadamosi is still alive and well.

4. Edwin Clark

Edwin Clark is a Nigerian nationalist, Ijaw leader, and politician who worked with the administrations of Military Governor Samuel Ogbemudia and Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon between 1966 and 1975. He was born on 25 May 1927, is currently 96 years old, and is still very much active in the political and media space.

5. Charles Olumo

Nollywood actor Charles Olumo popularly known as Charles Agbako recently turned 100 years old and celebrated the milestone joyfully with colleagues and family. Online, Charles was praised and celebrated for being 100 years old and still so agile and active. It is something a lot of us pray for, to get to such a ripe old age and still be strong, healthy, and active.
