'There was only one rule: don’t open the door.'

The-child

Alone in the forbidden room his curious young mind is ecstatic, it took only moments to realize the 'door not to open' isn't the outer one, but the one at the far end of the room, now pulsating with a red glow. He listens to the steps of the retreating nun tapping on the tiles fade away. What-ever is behind this other door really wants out, he hears his name whispered on the hot steamy air. With tiny steps he slowly approaches the Duru.

The-mouse

Little lungs expanding and retracting as quickly as the beating of her heart, she sits in the shadows watching the giant child, who had been chasing her, move towards the light. The outer door she escaped through earlier, is still slightly opened.

The-Nun

Sister Helena hadn't gone far when she remembered she had not locked the outer door. Quickly she turns around and heads back down the hall.

The-child

With his sweaty hand on the doorknob preparing to open it, he feels something about this is wrong. Perhaps he should leave and go back to his bed. Suddenly, he hears a voice from the past, it's his mothers voice calling from the other side of the door.

The-Nun

Noticing the door slightly ajar she frantically fumbles for the key, just as the door swings open, revealing a ghastly sight. The room is damp and hot, dripping a misty red liquid. Hearing a voice calling to her, she cautiously enters, slowly swinging the door shut.

The-mouse

Darting towards freedom, her tiny frame bumps the great door before it closes, keeping it ajar. She pauses, as a scream penetrates the dark. But it's the rivulets of red seeping from under the door that mystifies her.

This darned mouse is causing a lot of bother. Oh when will the door stop being opened. Yet, who can resist, we all gonna die.

There’s something about the mouse’s perspective that I find so compelling! Excellent continuation, JBaz!

There's something in your story here about how dark forces can use seemingly innocuous things (the little mouse) to create big problems. Clever and well-wrought!

  • Hahahahahahahahaha this was soooo delicious! It makes me so happy that you wrote a part 2!
