There was only one rule: don’t open the door, and the world shall remain safe. However, three unlikely occurrences happened.

A Nun, a mouse, and an inquisitive child.

The-nun

Due to an outbreak with-in the orphanage an unqualified nun was tasked with a vital job. Standing before the forbidden door sister Helena glanced furtively about, quickly fumbling within her frock. When her hand withdrew they were shaking, gripping an old-style skeleton key, which she plunged into the lock. In seconds she was through the door. Having only been in this room once before; she was frightened then, now she is terrified. Overwhelmed by the large room full of shelves lined with ancient tablets, runes, scrolls and relics. All collecting dust, all had value, and powers. Why these were kept at the orphanage was a mystery to her. Her goal lay in the far corner of the room. Proceeding, until she stood in front of an ancient duru. Quickly checking the seals for any signs of leakage or cracks. It seemed sealed. Wanting nothing more to do with this, she quickly exited. Praying aloud that the forces locked inside may never again, gain access into the domain of man. Her sect has been guarding the secret of what lay within for over a thousand years.

The-mouse

In her haste and fear Sister Helena failed to notice a tiny, frightened mouse skirt between her legs, bumping the door just enough to keep it ajar.

The-child

Watches the mouse he was chasing, run into the forbidden room as the Sister flees. Curiosity wins over fear, so he enters. Instantly his eyes lock onto an ancient door at the far end of the room, which now has a beam of light piercing outward through a crack in the seal. The child smiles.

Why on earth did she not lock the door behind her. Now hell comes for us all. Wonder if the child returns, if so as what or who.?
