The Real Haunted Story Of Zofiówka Sanatorium

Real Story

By TheNaethPublished about a year ago 2 min read

A mental institution known as the Sofia Sanatorium, which was established in the Polish town of Otwok at the beginning of the twentieth century, has since been shut down since its opening.

During the time of the Second Polish Republic, the sanatorium complex underwent expansion, which included the construction of new buildings and the hiring of more personnel. Following Nazi Germany's invasion of Poland in 1935, the number of beds at Sofia expanded from 95 beds in the beginning to 275 beds by the time the year 1935 rolled around.

In the course of the Holocaust, every single member of Zofiofka's Jewish population perished. Before the year 1940 came to an end, the hospital was included into the newly constructed Jewish Ghetto in Otwok, which was a medical zone established by the Germans. despite the fact that the situation got even more dire.

Even in the early phases of the Polish occupation, the institution continued to carry out its functions. As part of the Nazi regime's murderous campaign, more than four hundred people were sentenced to a death by starvation that would be slow and excruciating from the inside out.

The ghetto in Zofiofka came to an end at the same time as the Ukrainian tronics that were under German control departed the ghetto in Otwok. On the morning of August 19, 1942, the first pavilion was granted a license to be used by the whole medical personnel as well as the patients. After that, bullets were fired at the location, resulting in the deaths of between 104 and 104 individuals.

The last seven thousand Jews from Ottwa were crammed into the Holocaust train that was traveling to Treblinka. They were on their way to the concentration camp. Only a small number of medical professionals were able to make it through the trauma and arrive in Warsaw by ambulance to get treatment. It is a tragedy. Several employees took their own lives earlier today.

In 1943, Zofiofka became a charitable care institution after having previously provided care for Germans in the capacity of laboratory rats. Children from Poland were taken in by the organization until they were adopted by families from Germany. There is a technique known as forced Germanization.

The original medical responsibilities that Zofiofka had been responsible for were revived after the Soviet takeover. The institutions provided treatment for neuropsychiatric problems that were related with drug misuse, despite the fact that the majority of the patients were considered to be young individuals. Starting in 1985 and continuing until the middle of the 1990s, this trend was seen. Up to the point that it was determined to formally shut down, that continued.
