The Preventable Disease
By: Matthew Howland

It was a typical business trip for Jack when he arrived in China. He was there for a meeting with a potential client, and he had been looking forward to it for weeks.
But as he delved deeper into the countryside, he started to feel a bit off. At first, he attributed it to jet lag and the change in diet. But as the days went on, his symptoms worsened.
He developed a high fever and a terrible cough, and his body was wracked with pain. He tried to push through it, determined not to let his illness ruin the trip. But eventually, he was forced to cut his trip short and return home.
When he arrived back in Canada, he went straight to the hospital. The doctors ran a battery of tests, but they couldn't seem to figure out what was wrong.
That is, until they stumbled upon a rare disease that had only been seen a handful of times before. It was called the Black Plague, and it was highly contagious and had a high mortality rate.
The doctors explained to Jack that the only way to cure the Black Plague was to find three sacred potions from around the world. The first potion was located in Venezuela, the second in Russia, and the third in Hawaii.
Jack was shocked and terrified. He had no idea how he was going to find these potions, let alone afford them. But he was determined to do whatever it took to get better.
As word of the Black Plague spread, the public was outraged. How could one man have caught such a rare and deadly disease? And how were they going to find the potions in time to save him?
People scrambled to find a way to get their hands on the potions. Some even turned to the black market, willing to pay any price to get their hands on the cure.
But what the public didn't know was that one family held the key to the third potion. They had been guarding it for generations, and they had no intention of letting it go.
The family, who lived on a small island in Hawaii, relied on the potion for their livelihood. It was their only source of income, and they were willing to do whatever it took to protect it.
As Jack's health continued to deteriorate, the pressure to find the potions only grew. The government offered a hefty reward for anyone who could bring the potions back, and people from all over the world flocked to Venezuela and Russia in search of them.
But the third potion remained elusive. No one knew where it was, and the family who held it wasn't talking.
As time ran out, it seemed that all hope was lost. Jack's family was devastated, and the public was angry. How could one family be so selfish, holding onto the potion that could save countless lives?
But in the end, it was Jack who found the solution. He had always been a resourceful man, and he refused to give up without a fight.
He set off to Hawaii, determined to find the third potion and bring it back to Canada. It was a long and treacherous journey, but he was driven by his desire to get better and to help others.
And in the end, he succeeded. He found the third potion and brought it back to Canada, where it was used to cure the Black Plague and save countless lives.
As Jack recovered and the world moved on, people were left to wonder what the future held. The Black Plague was a harsh reminder of the dangers of the unknown, and it made people realize just how fragile life really was.
