There was only one rule: don't open the door.

The house was peaceful, and I took advantage because that was a luxury in our house. My sister usually had her radio blasting, while my mum and dad argued over cars in the bedroom.

It was midnight, which meant it was time for bed, but I wasn't tired. I was bored though. There was a white door at the end of our house, and my mum had told me not to open that door for many years, but tonight I was so bored that I decided to defy her and see what was behind the door.

I walked down the long corridor that led to the door and as I got closer, I observed whispers telling me, "Don't open the door."

The whispers grew louder as I got nearer. I ignored them. I put the key in the door and opened it.

I froze. There was a coffin in the room, and the lid flew open revealing the body of a woman who screamed,

"Your mum is a murderer! Get out now, and never open this door again."

I was thrown out of the room, and the door slammed behind me.

The next night, I tried the door again; that was when I got the call from my dad.

"Your mum is dead."

"My mum is here!" I screamed down the phone.

"No son, that thing has erased your memories, your mum died twenty years ago." My dad said.

Later that night, there was a knock on my front door. I opened it, and shivered in cold blood as the police officer told me,

"I'm sorry but your parents just died."

At that moment, I realized my parents died twenty years ago, and I never opened that door again.
