Late one night, Sarah and her friends pulled up to the drive-thru of a McDonald's infamous for its late-night experiences. As they approached the menu board, they heard whispered suggestions for menu items they'd never heard of. Unease settled in as they placed their orders.
At the pickup window, they received bags of The night was heavy with mist as Jason and his friends, Mia and Chris, pulled into the deserted McDonald's parking lot. The neon sign flickered intermittently, casting an eerie glow on the worn pavement. "This place gives me the creeps," Mia whispered, her voice barely audible over the soft hum of the engine.
"I heard there's something strange about this McDonald's," Chris said, glancing at the building with a mix of curiosity and trepidation.
Jason chuckled. "Come on, guys, it's just an urban legend. The Haunted Drive-Thru—sounds like a B-grade horror movie."
Despite his bravado, even Jason couldn't deny the shiver that ran down his spine as they approached the drive-thru menu board. The speaker crackled to life, emitting a faint, distorted voice. "Welcome to McDonald's. May I take your order?"
Mia exchanged a nervous glance with Chris before giving her order. As Jason ordered his meal, a soft whisper seemed to accompany the voice. He shook it off as his imagination played tricks. "I'll have a Big Mac and a Coke."
"Proceed to the first window," the speaker announced, the static growing louder as the words faded away.
They pulled up to the window, where an employee with hollow eyes and a faded uniform handed them their bags. Jason noticed that the employee's name tag read "Lucas," but there was an odd, otherworldly aura about him.
"Thanks," Jason muttered, handing over his money. Lucas's eyes bore into him for a moment longer than usual, unsettling Jason further.
As they drove toward the second window, the air seemed to grow colder, and the atmosphere thickened with palpable tension. The second window was shrouded in shadows, and the employee who appeared resembled Lucas, but his features were distorted as if molded from wax.
"Your order is ready," the employee said in a voice that was almost a whisper. Jason's heart raced, and he exchanged a glance with Mia and Chris, who appeared equally unnerved.
As they pulled away from the window, a strange sensation washed over them like they were being watched from all sides. The parking lot seemed darker than before, and the mist had thickened into an impenetrable fog.
"Did you guys see that guy's face?" Mia's voice trembled.
Chris nodded, his knuckles white as he gripped the steering wheel. "This place is seriously messed up."
A sudden thud against the car's roof made them all jump. Jason's gaze shot upward, and his blood ran cold as he saw a distorted figure standing on top of their car—the same employee from the second window. His eyes were pitch-black, devoid of any humanity, and his grin stretched impossibly wide.
"Drive!" Jason shouted, his heart pounding in his chest.
Chris floored the gas pedal, and the car shot forward. The employee on the roof clung to the windshield, his eyes locked onto Jason's. The drive-thru lane seemed to stretch infinitely, and Jason felt a sense of unreality wash over him.
Mia's scream echoed in the car as they careened around a corner, the figure finally losing his grip and disappearing into the fog. The car skidded to a halt in the parking lot, the mist lifting as suddenly as it had appeared.
They sat in silence, catching their breath and trying to comprehend the nightmarish encounter they had just endured.
"That... that was insane," Mia stammered, her voice shaking.
"I don't know what that was, but I'm never coming back here," Chris declared, his face pale.
As they drove away from the McDonald's, the neon sign receded into the distance, and the memory of the haunting encounter lingered. Jason glanced back one last time, half-expecting to see the employee watching them from the shadows.
Weeks later, the McDonald's was closed indefinitely, surrounded by caution tape and rumors of a horrific incident that had occurred there. No one knew the truth of what had transpired, but for Jason, Mia, and Chris, the memory of the Haunted Drive-Thru would forever remain etched in their minds—a chilling reminder that some legends were far more real than they seemed.
And as they passed by other fast-food restaurants, their laughter felt hollow, tinged with the lingering fear that the darkness they had encountered that night could lurk just around the corner, hidden behind the mundane facade of a late-night meal. ancient, moldy food. But what really disturbed them was the employees. Their faces twisted into grotesque forms as they handed over the food, revealing themselves to be vengeful spirits trapped in the drive-thru.
