The Cursed Guava Tree: A Jinn’s Revenge
True Horror Story from Bangladesh
The incident I'm about to share with you was sent to us by Mahmudul Hasan Ithun. His home is in Mohail village, Jhauail Union, Gopalpur Upazila, in Tangail district. We previously broadcast another story of his, titled "Yugi's Cave." That incident took place at Akash's maternal grandfather's house. Akash's maternal grandfather's house was in Dhanbari, Tangail. The story was mainly narrated by one of Akash's uncles, named Siddiq, whom many in the area call "Siddha."
The story essentially begins before the Liberation War, with his grandfather. Later, more details were revealed. His grandfather was a traditional healer, a Kobiraj. Before his death, his grandfather told Siddiq's father, "Son, don't cut down the guava tree in front of the house until it dies naturally." Siddiq's father asked why, what the problem was. His grandfather supposedly said he couldn't explain.
A few days after Siddiq's grandfather passed away, strange things started happening. It sounded like someone was walking outside, making noises, but when they went out, they saw nothing. One night, his father went out to the washroom. The village washrooms were outside the house. When he came out of the washroom, his eyes fell on the guava tree in front of the house. In the moonlight, he saw a huge figure moving around the guava tree, humming something. As soon as he saw it, he was frightened, and the figure looked at him. Then, with a "shush" sound, it seemed to disappear.
He rushed back into the house and told Siddiq's mother about what he had seen. His mother said that maybe he had seen things incorrectly. Siddiq's father didn't think much of it and went to sleep. So, the next night, his father had a dream. The dream was that he saw the same figure he had seen the previous night climbing their guava tree in front of the house. It was angrily breaking the branches of the guava tree and saying to Siddique’s father, “Cut it down! Cut it down! You want to cut it down, don’t you? No one will survive, remember that!” Then he woke up. He couldn’t figure out why he had such a dream. When he woke up in the morning, he was surprised to see that several thick branches of the guava tree were broken and lying on the ground. He became even more worried. After that, things were fine for several days. Suddenly, one day, there was a need to cut down the guava tree because Siddique's house was very old, and a new house needed to be built there. Now, that tree was creating a big obstacle in building the new house. And Siddique’s grandfather had forbidden Siddique’s father from cutting down the tree, but Siddique’s father didn't remember that at all. But when the tree was cut down, a mysterious thing happened. It was a very old guava tree, quite thick. When they were cutting the tree, when they started cutting it with a saw, after cutting a little, they saw blood coming out. It wasn't literally blood coming out of the tree, but it felt like blood was coming out from somewhere nearby. Everyone was surprised, wondering where the blood was coming from. So, the people who were cutting the tree got very scared. They left the tree there in that condition and left. After a little while, the blood seemed to disappear. Blood becomes solid, right? It hardens. But it wasn’t like that. It was as if nothing had happened. Siddique's father spent the whole day in worry and anxiety. That night, when Siddique’s father went out to go to the washroom, it was getting late.
Suddenly, a loud scream came from outside. As soon as Siddique Bhai's mother came out of the house hearing this scream, she also screamed and fainted. Hearing her mother's scream, Siddique Bhai and his younger sister woke up. They came outside and saw their father's lifeless body lying there in a terrible state. He had probably been hit on the head with something heavy. Blood was everywhere, and he was dead. And their mother was lying unconscious. Seeing this scene, the neighbors came running. They sprinkled water on Siddique Bhai's mother and brought her back to consciousness. Actually, when she came out, she saw her husband's dead body. She couldn't bear to see it, and that's why she screamed. Anyway, Siddique Bhai's father's funeral prayers were held, and the burial rites were completed. At night, Siddique Bhai's mother called Siddique Bhai and his sister and said, "Your father's death was unnatural. I know that too. And it's all because of your grandfather. Your grandfather, the folk healer, knew there would be jinn enemies. That was certain. But your grandfather didn't teach your father the folk healing practices. If he had known something, maybe, by Allah's will, he could have been saved." After that, a few days passed peacefully. Suddenly, Siddique Bhai's younger sister, at that time she was eight, nine, or ten years old, something like that, her name was Rupa. One night, Siddique Bhai's sister woke up in her sleep feeling someone pulling her hair. When Rupa woke up, she couldn't see anything. Rupa thought it was her imagination or a dream, something like that, and went back to sleep. After she fell asleep, she felt some kind of sweet liquid falling into her mouth.
So, while she was asleep, she drank that liquid. After drinking it, she couldn't get out of bed in the morning. She had a very high fever, and even after taking medicine, there was no sign of the fever going down. Day by day, Rupa's body was wasting away. She couldn't eat any food; she would vomit as soon as she ate. They showed her to many doctors and folk healers, and tried various rituals, but no one could say anything, and no one could help. One afternoon, Rupa suddenly started vomiting blood, and she died while vomiting blood. Before one grief could pass, another grief arrived. Meanwhile, Siddique’s mother was very worried. She couldn't figure out what to do. One day, his mother said to Siddique, "I lost your father, I lost your sister, now you are the only support I have left. I don't want to lose you." They couldn't understand why such things were happening to them. What sin had they committed to deserve this fate? Meanwhile, Siddique’s aunt had found an Imam. So, the next day, they went to the Imam's house. The Imam's house was in Jamalpur, their neighboring district. After going to the Imam's house, they told the Imam everything. After listening to everything, the Imam told them, "Go home. I will gather information first. I'll see what the matter is. If it seems solvable or if I can be of any help to you, then, God willing, I will try. Let me gather information first." So, they left the Imam's house. After arriving home, when they were about to sleep that night, no one was really asleep. Suddenly, they heard what sounded like whispers from outside. These whispers were very loud whispers, like when someone whispers very loudly, that's what it sounded like. It was saying, "You won't survive, none of you will survive." Then, Siddique's mother bravely said, "Who are you? What harm have we done to you? Why are you harming us like this?"
Then, a voice from outside responded, "You struck my heart, how does it feel to lose your loved ones? You too will suffer this pain that I have endured. None of you will survive, I will take revenge, blood for blood." Then the sound from outside gradually faded away. Hearing this kind of sound from outside, this Siddique Bhai, he was actually, he heard this and was terrified. He was sweating profusely and in a terrible state. They were sleeping in fear at night. After a few days, the Imam (religious leader) sent word that he would come to the house very soon and solve the problem right there. So, after a few days, the Imam arrived, and the information he gave, they were absolutely not prepared to hear it. Such a terrible thing was in this small place, no one could have imagined. The Imam said, "I sent some of my information-gathering Jinns, and the information they gave is that because of your grandfather's mistake..."
He meant Siddique Bhai, "Because of your grandfather's mistake, you are in this state today. The Jinn that killed your father and sister is a powerful Muslim Jinn whose name is Ajman Talashi. Your grandfather used to practice rudimentary herbal medicine. One night, while returning home from somewhere, when he was passing through the forest road of your area, he heard some chirping sounds in the forest. He saw some white kittens. Usually, cats meow, but these kittens were chirping like birds. Among the kittens, one had something golden and shiny around its neck. He thought, these are not ordinary cats, and he understood what they were. These were essentially some Jinns who had come there, and the one with the golden thing around its neck was their leader or the most powerful among them. So your grandfather slowly went forward and performed a ruqyah (Islamic incantation) that trapped them there. And the kitten with the golden, shiny thing around its neck, he caught it."
After catching the cat, it suddenly felt like the jungle had fallen silent. The chirping of crickets had stopped, and the owl had ceased its hooting. It felt like complete and utter silence. In that state, he took the cat home. After arriving home, he kept the cat locked in a cage. That very night, your grandfather dreamed that a handsome man of great stature saluted him and said, "I am Azman Talashi. You have imprisoned my only son, Shahzada Ijman Talashi. Please release my son. Tell me what you want in return. Please break the bonds you have placed on him, otherwise, he won't be able to escape." Hearing this, your grandfather bravely told the jinn, "I will not release your son. I want to accomplish many things with him. And if I release your son, you will harm me." Asman Talashi said, "Please release my son. I promise I will not harm you in any way." But your grandfather did not release him. Azman Talashi was very powerful, but because his son was imprisoned, he couldn't harm anyone in your grandfather's family. Meanwhile, your grandfather, by imprisoning Ijman Talashi, made him perform a lot of black magic. Azman Talashi could only watch from afar and shed tears. Your grandfather made a lot of money by performing black magic. Azman Talashi was a Muslim jinn; your grandfather forced them to commit heinous sins like this black magic. Your grandfather blackmailed Azman Talashi into committing many sins, saying he would release his son. The main work, the imprisonment of the son, Azman Talashi, or Azman Talashi’s loyal jinn did the main work. In this way, he caused a lot of injustice and had many people killed, from banmara (a type of black magic) to creating divorces between wives. Your grandfather did countless absurd things. However, your grandfather thought that if Azman Talashi could ever take his son away, he would definitely take revenge.
Since your grandfather had him working for so long,
your grandfather imprisoned Ijman Talashi in the guava tree. If this tree was cut down, Ijman Talashi would die. If the tree had died on its own, Ijman Talashi would have been freed, but Azman Talashi wouldn't have been able to do any harm. That's mainly why your grandfather told you not to cut the tree. The blood you saw when you were cutting the guava tree, that was Ijman Talashi's blood. Even though it was forbidden to cut the tree, it was still cut down. Ijman Talashi died, and after that, Azman Talashi started his vengeful death spree. You are paying the price for the sinful deeds your grandfather committed. I greeted Azman Talashi at night, and he said he would come. I'll see if I can persuade him. If I can persuade him, then Alhamdulillah (praise be to God). But I believe I can persuade him, because he is a good jinn. Then, the Imam (religious leader) put Zamzam water in a circle at night. He sat inside it himself and then told everyone to close all the doors and windows of the house. After that, he started reciting various prayers, reciting different verses from the Quran. Suddenly, a fragrance of perfume spread throughout the room, an ethereal fragrance. Everyone present in the room, including Siddique Bhai (brother) and others, saw a white smoke-like thing enter the room. After the smoke-like thing entered, a voice came from the thing itself. It wasn't like it possessed someone and spoke through them, it was speaking on its own. Upon arriving, the thing gave greetings, saying, "Imam Sahib (respected religious leader), you called for me, I am Azman Talashi. I have come in honor of your call."
"But don't tell me to take cows and goats, take this and take that, and let them go. How can I fill the void of my son's blood with cows and goats? Please don't ask me to do this; please don't make this request." Then the Imam says, "Azman Talashi, I have heard your words through the mouths of the Jinn. You are a good person. Your son did not suffer for the sins of his grandfather; he answered Allah's call before that. Allah will decide whether to punish him or forgive him. Allah will decide. You committed a sinful act to save your child's life; may Allah forgive you. But as revenge for your son's murder, you have already taken two lives. You have already committed Qisas; you have taken blood for blood. You will not inflict any more harm on this family."
Azman Talashi says, "Imam, you speak the truth. Fine, I will not harm this family. Even if the entire world were given to me, I would not have forgiven this family. But since you have said to forgive, may Allah forgive me. May Allah forgive me for the sins that his grandfather made me commit. I am letting them go. However, they must feed the poor and needy in the area, and for the rest of their lives, they must do good deeds and never resort to black magic. And no one in this family can practice Kobiraj." So, on these conditions, Azman Talashi promises not to take revenge for his son's murder.
And after this, no more fearful incidents occurred with that family, and paranormal events were not reported to have happened in that way. This was the story.
