The Story OF Dracula
Dracula, the character of the novel of the same name written at the end of the nineteenth century by Irish Bram Stoker, is a Transylvanian count, master of a castle erected somewhere on the top of high rock, from where he guards the valley of the river winding through the Principality of Transylvania.

Across the Threshold
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. The events of that night haunted the Blue Ridge community for years, and as with all small-town horrors, it fueled the local gossip mill and gave way to superstitious ramblings. No one knows for certain what happened that night, no one but Veronica "Ronnie" Knowles.

“The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window…” I paused for dramatic effect. Watching people’s reactions was a favorite past time. 2 girls in the seat kitty corner from mine leaned in closer, lapping up the words like hungry dogs. As the story unfolded, the small freshmen sitting across the aisle pushed back into her senior sister’s body. My large jean quilt pulled up over her nose.

Wildfire Season
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. That was the simple anonymous report that led one park ranger hiking out to the northernmost far corner of the land he was responsible for managing. One little candle in one little cabin might not sound like a good reason to hike alone at night, but that region was in the midst of wildfire season during an especially persistent drought so the rangers could take no chances when it came to violations of the campfire ban. Despite the drought the forest felt as alive as ever to the rangers keen eyes and ears, branches snapped ahead of him as he walked signaling startled animals fleeing his approach, crickets sang, to his right he could hear the drought weakened stream nevertheless continue to gurgle on carrying as much life giving water as it could muster down the mountain to try to nourish the valley below.

The White Widow
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Almost like it knew it would have company that night; the flame burned unnaturally still and bright against the wind that leaked through the ill-fitted windowpanes. None of the ordinary sounds from the lush woods reached the small clearing, as though nothing that lived, dared to go near the ring of barren trees surrounding the tiny structure.

"Come Help Me"
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the windows. I stared intensely at it, as it drew me into it’s flame. I could feel my body being pulled towards the cabin. Suddenly, the phone rang. I felt dazed, wondering… where am I? With the phone still in hand, a muffled voice talking, I looked out the window, I couldn’t see anything.

Stay for a spell
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Driving slowly down the winding, bumpy dirt road to the lakefront and his family cabin, Greg saw the candle in the window and a chill rose up his spine. Strange, he thought, Grandma didn't mention that someone bought the old Meyer cabin. Greg had never known the ancient Meyer cabin to be occupied; touching the crumbing porch and, for the more brazen, peeking in the dirty windows was the source of many a dare between him and his cousins growing up. The dim beams from the truck's headlights didn't offer enough light for him to see if there were any vehicles parked in the overgrown weeds of the dirt driveway.
