The Obsidian Order
A struggle and scuffle left the male bound and seated on a back pew. Jacob suffered from a solid-state of shock while the three cloaked forms conjoined in an intense, low conversation near the altar. Candles again lit up the cathedral with an audible whoosh, flickering in a strangely slow dance.

Scratch
It had started snowing again. Ruby gave her old car a little more gas, maneuvering it slowly through the cramped grocery store parking lot. The sun was going down, making it seem more like midnight than 5:30, but that's the way it always was in the winter: no sun, no warmth, and every time it snowed, everybody ran to the grocery store as if the apocalypse was coming.

The Black Book Beckons
Books covered the cornerstone of every hall in this house. That was how my father kept it, books everywhere. Red, blue, and green, were colors that just itched the tip of the iceberg in our home. Using the basic colors of the color wheel to describe them could be considered a sin, but when your unfamiliar with the shades of the world you use what is readily available to you.

The Object of Desire
I am... I was 25 years old. I still am, I just don't look it, and I don't feel it. I was hired right out of school, personal assistant to Mr. Brightman. The work was a little drab at first, it was mostly setting up meetings, keeping his schedule, but I suppose I did a good enough job with all of those things to get a... promotion of sorts. Maybe it took some time to build up his trust, not as an individual but as a good worker, because I didn't have very many interactions with the old man. He seemed to have little understanding of money and pay rates, because the new salary he was offering was very generous for the work he proposed. It's something that comes with being ridiculously wealthy, I told myself, and that's what Brightman was.

An Evening at the Opry
Jackson Morris is, without a doubt, the most gifted guitar player to ever grace this Earth. He could even be considered the greatest musician to ever grace this Earth. In fact, you could argue that no one has ever been better at any one thing than Jackson is at playing the guitar.

The Expense
It all started one fateful day, with Veronica and Jacob, a young career couple living in the suburbs of Los Angeles. Veronica was an aspiring actress, who is just getting her foot in the door; she had done some modeling here and there, had been in a couple of commercials, but had moved out to California with her husband from Chicago in search of true fame. She had always been one for the limelight and loved the attention and approval of others. With her natural brunette hair, fair complexion, and smoky hazel eyes she was a natural beauty. Jacob was a salesman, and his company had been brought out. However, after moving to California with his wife, he was able to land a stable position at a firm; The pay was not spectacular, but it kept food on the table. Having grown up in the inner city, he experienced life has many young men had. Growing up with no father, and only a single mother, he knew firsthand about struggling. This time he determined to make something of himself and decided with his wife to go ahead and take this adventure. After they moved to L.A., they wound up getting A decent sized apartment, which was the result of careful planning and conscious saving. After adjusting for six months, they become acclimated to the routine of daily living. Veronica would get odd jobs for commercials, modeling gigs, and Jacob would bury himself in his work daily.
