Indigo Eyes
My hands gripped the steering wheel so tightly that my knuckles flashed white hot like spent coals in a fire pit. My jaw was clenched. The tired muscles in my neck begged for a reprieve. I felt it inside of me, felt its slimy tendrils caressing my vital organs and exploring my intestines.

The Secrets of Snapdragon Cottage
I am ready to obtain hard, objective evidence that the family cottage is haunted. The linkspan groans and scrapes as it lowers into place on the front of the ferry. Cars drive off the boat in a slow single file. I double check the connection of my bike trailer and put on my helmet. Excitement fills me with every breath of salty air. Visiting Prudence Island always feels like Coming Home.

Delhart's Spirit
Sylvia Delhart ate her lunch in the dining room of Regent’s Estate with a sense of eventual loss. Running to conclusions, she figured she will have to find a way to live on her own, the mere thought of losing everything made her dizzy. Thinking this may be her last proper meal, she ate slowly, a mouthful at a time. After her lunch was over, she left the room and strutted towards the door behind the stairs. She knocked.

The Mysterious Barn
There is a small town nestled in the heart of another, called Heights Lake, which has always been a charming, safe place for most of its locals. A place where one could keep their doors unlocked and kids can play late at night in the park. It may seem strange to some, as the way of the world doesn’t really allow for such things, but the truth is, not that many people know it exists. For travelers these days, prefer to take the fast roads, the highways, leaving less and less to travel down the backroads that lead to this enchanting place; a road called Mercer Street. It is the only road that will lead you right through the town and out again, turning into Main Street as you enter back into its surrounding town of West Maidenhead. There you could find every shop, restaurant, fire house, police department, and library, as well as runner and bicyclist. It’s the vein the leads to the heart of this magnificent town.

Driver for the Dead. Top Story - July 2021.
She came to me while I slept. I was blurry eyed and still half asleep when I agreed, fetching my keys and wandering to the car. It was once in the car, with only the moon and the green of traffic lights scattering color across sodden blacktop, that I realized what was happening.

Curiosity Killed the Kat
Twelve year old Katherine Moore drew patterns in the dirt while she patiently waited for the first responders to do their job. The scenery outside the barn was serene in comparison to the commotion in the house. The chill of the summer night air wrapped around her like a blanket that they give to victims on those crime shows her Momma would sometimes watch. Kat never imagined that she would ever be in a situation similar to those shows, yet here she was. She imagined getting interviewed by the police would be scarier, but it was more… draining than anything else. A voice interrupted her sea of thoughts.

Grandma
As Angel was riding in the back of her uber on her way to her grandmother’s house watching as the trees seemed to zoom past. She had never met her fathers mom, she was wondering what she was like and what the house looked like. It’s funny you’d think in her 16 years on this planet she would have at least met the woman. But with mom and dad having to travel more and more for work this is the only thing they could come up with between them for the summer. She started passing fields foggy and laying heavy with the morning dew as first light had barely hit. It seemed to go on forever with no houses or signs of civilization. Then in the distance barely able to be made out at first was an old ranch house with fences all around and an old barn close by. She couldn’t imagine what she’d be helping her grandma with, it looked like it hadn’t even been lived in for years. Then the sound of the car hitting gravel and slowing down brought her back to the present as she prepared herself for whatever she was about to encounter. She hoped she was one of those sweet old ladies that smelled like cookies… not one of those that you’re scared to be near and reaked of back medicine.
