The Gamekeeper's Cabin
Present Day – 1973 The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. George nearly missed it as he stumbled home from The Royal Oak, cane in one hand, hipflask clutched tightly in the other.

The Candle in the Cabin
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. The Cabin has been Sally's neighbor for as long as she had lived there. "It was there long before me and will be here long after me" Sally would tell anyone who listened. Everyone knew that the cabin had a dark past and would not go anywhere near it.

The Mistaken Path
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window, the night I decided to take the path everyone in our little town was warned not to take. While overgrown, it was still passable, and I forged through the brush with gusto.

The Entity
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. As the odorless translucent wax slowly trickled down the side of the slender candle and into the tarnished brass base, a long and equally slender finger also slowly slid down the window. At the ends of each veiny finger were pointy nails that were thick yet cracked and yellowed. Tiny pieces of dried flesh and fur sat rotting in the dark cracks. The entity let out a long, raspy sigh that bemoaned of hunger…a deep, ancient hunger that needed to be satisfied…yearned to be satisfied. The cabin was warm, and provided sanctuary from the fireball, but it was located in a remote area, with little population and therefore, lacked resources to food. The occasional rabbit or deer was growing old and boring. Rarely did it struggle or put up a fight. The entity’s nightly hunger was excruciatingly painful, and the cabin was a disappointment. The entity gracefully turned and slowly floated away from the window. Midnight was close at hand and rest was needed before hunting.

Run from Father
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. I turned my eyes away to focus on my studies, my English paper was due in two days and yet I had barely begun. I couldn't help but divert my look towards the candle burning... no one lives in that cabin, it was left abandoned years before I was born. I wonder who was in there? I went to ask Momma about it. I found her sitting in fathers rocking chair knitting yet another green jumper for winter "Momma there is a candle burning from the cabin? Placing her knitting down she rose to have a look. But when she got to the window it was out... "where is this candle burning" she asks. I pointed to where the cabin was... "you must need glasses" Momma said. I quickly looked over and Momma was right. The candle was out.

Fright Night
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night a candle burned in the window. James looked closer and saw the faint wisp of a GHOST smoking two cigarettes at once. James decided to get a tiny bit closer but now he could not see that cheeky ghost. “BOO!” said the smiling ghost from behind him. That tiny action scared the pants off James, literally! He quickly pulled his pants back on and took his gun out of its holster and waited for the flicker of life that would happen sporadically. It eventually came and James shot the ghost directly through where its heart should have been. The ghost instantly disintegrated to dust. The cigarettes hit the ground but quickly started a black fire! The fire was fuelled by the corpses from 1545.

The Darkness Within
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. A group of teenagers set up camp and sat down around the small fire in the field near the old structure. There were legends about the cabin, but it was always a dare for new kids to come spend the night on the property to see if they could do it or if they left screaming in the night. One of the boys smiled as the flamed bounced in the reflection of his eyes as he asked the rest of group.

Siren
The Trap. The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Justin looked around the cabin for a vehicle and there wasn’t one in sight. His suspicion got the best of him so he began to walk towards the porch. He’s been going on nightly walks on this specific trail for two years now and he’s never seen any activity in that cabin until this particular night. He puts one foot onto the porch, the porch begins to creak. If someone were to stomp hard enough they’d probably fall through. “I should be careful.” He mumbles to himself, he continues to walk gently on the porch. He peeks through a window, he glances at a beautiful caramel woman. Her thick, curly, dark brown hair almost covers her whole face; Justin smiles from ear to ear. “Maybe now I can have some fun.” He thinks to himself; Justin tip-toes off of the front porch and goes to the back of the cabin. He continues to tip-toe through the backyard, he crouches as he approaches the back porch. He peeks out the window, only this time he’s looking at the back of her. Justin starts to think about all the ways he could approach her; “I can either be friendly and sneak attack her when she least expects it or I can threaten her with this knife I have in my pocket.” He wonders, he begins to hear something creeping towards the back of him. Justin turned his head so quickly that he jolted his whole back into the cabin. With his back and butt to the cabin, Justin trembles. It’s so dark that he could barely see what was laying in the grass so he moved closer to it, “Oh, it’s just a rabbit.” He chuckled, relief filled his body. “I hope she didn’t hear me.” He mumbles, he gently walks back to the cabin window. He looks through it only to see the girl's crystals laying on the floor. “Where did she go?” He asked himself; Justin turns the doorknob gently to the right, he opens the door as quietly as he possibly could. He walks into the rusty cabin, he glances at the scratched up walls. He looks up at the shallow, beat up ceiling; Justin continues to tip-toe through the halls. All of a sudden Justin begins to hear footsteps in the room on the left of the hall, he decides to go towards the door. He stands beside the door and lays his back against the wall, he waits for the beautiful woman to leave.
