Fascination of Horror
Growing up, I always had this love for the horror genre. I've watched movies like The Evil Dead, IT (1990), Friday the 13th, and A Nightmare on Elm Street; and played games like Resident Evil, Until Dawn, Outlast, The Evil Within, and Dead Space (many of these are franchises). Horror will always have a place in my heart because of the many beautys it has. It might seem a bit taboo that I see horror movies as beautiful because it's suppose to be the exact opposite of beautiful, but I digress. Overall, the horror genre might seem a bit stale but just read long enough and I might convince you that there are more to horror movies than blood and guts.

Horror of Lovecraft
To begin any discussion of H. P. Lovecraft, one must begin with an analysis of the times in which he lived, the times where science seemed to explain everything, when human knowledge was expanding at the greatest rate that it possibly could. Paradoxically, there are many parallels between the time of H. P. Lovecraft and our own modern times. While it is important to understand that the times back then were filled with great scientific promise, it is also important to understand the scientific backdrop to which he writes. Most important to the writing and understanding of H. P. Lovecraft's fiction is the eugenics movement, as his disdain for people of "lesser races" becomes rather apparent in short stories such as The Street, and make an appearance in his novella, The Shadow Over Innsmouth, an allegory in itself warning against racial mixture. It is possible to separate his writing from this eugenics movement, but it is impractical.

People Want to Take Religion Seriously
In the "there-are-no-atheists-in-foxholes" department, I recently rewatched William Friedkin's The Exorcist for perhaps the 12th time. I once again had my judgement confirmed that it is a great movie, one of the greatest, true to its convictions and willing to go where no movie before or since has gone. I mean, a young girl stabbing herself in the groin with a crucifix and yelling "Fuck her, Fuck her" and then pulling her own mother's face between her legs and saying "Lick me." Robert Mapplethorpe would have killed for such extreme performance art.

Can We Have a 'What We Do in the Shadows' but With Every Mythological Creature?
As of recently, FX confirmed a 10-episode TV series adaptation about the acclaimed Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement's What We Do in the Shadows (2014), and both of them are working on a spin-off of the movie called We're Wolves. The horror comedy focused on the lives of a group of vampires that live in Wellington, New Zealand, recorded as a mockumentary. So, think of The Office but with vampires, which is the best concept possible. If they approached vampires, and now wolves, it raises the question: why not every single creature possible? To take a myth or creature, add comedy and an unusual setting for them, and somehow make it work. As a contribution, here are some of the endless possibilities I've thought about.
