'X' Movie Review
Indie darling Ti West returns to horror with X, a movie about a group of pornographers in 1979 who rent a spare house on an old farmer's (Stephen Ure) property to shoot an adult film, unbeknownst to the farmer. There's Maxine (Mia Goth), the ambitious, aspiring star, Wayne (Martin Henderson), the producer and Maxine's lover, Bobby-Lynne (Brittany Snow), a sweet southern belle with a lust for life and a love of her craft, Jackson (Scott Mescudi, aka Kid Cudi), the black stud and former soldier, RJ (Owen Campbell), a film student hired to direct who wants to make the film more sophisticated than your typical porno, and his girlfriend Lorraine (Jenna Ortega), a shy girl who is not particularly comfortable with the work they're doing. While there is plenty of drama between the cast and crew, the farmer's wife (also played by Mia Goth in heavy old-age makeup) is both disgusted and jealous of their virility, having lived such a sexually repressed life, and she decides to take her rage and pain out on them.

Why is Patrick Bateman held on a pedestal by men?. Top Story - March 2022.
American Psycho, originally a novel by Bret Easton Ellis, later released as a movie in 2001, has solidified its place in media history as a classic that is loved widely. Although having been criticised by some under the accusation of glorifying violence against women and misogyny, the movie rendition has become a staple amongst male dominated corners of the Internet as a source of humour and relatability. In this essay, I will comment on the variety ways that the American Psycho movie has been consumed by different groups and communities, the significance of the commentary on conformity and why I believe this piece of media is held on a pedestal by young men in specific Internet cultures of 'sigma mindset' in terms of masculinity and the struggle to solidify an identity in today's culture of consumerism.

Movie Review: 'X' is One of the Best of 2022 So Far
X takes the idea of aesthetic homage to its best possible place by evoking the look and feel of the best of 1970s horror while not forgetting to tell its own story. X is the story of a group of low level hustlers trying their hand at making low budget pornography. The success of Debbie Does Dallas inspired hundreds of copycats and the characters of X feel that they have a terrific chance for success with their sexy strippers and a ‘talented’ male star.

Classic Movie Review: 'The House of the Devil'
Merely emulating the style of another era of film is not an idea, it’s an aesthetic. The 2009 horror movie, The House of the Devil, a breakout for director Ti West impressed a lot of people with its aesthetic. The film’s grainy cinematography evoked the early 1980s and the horror aesthetic of that time. Indeed, in style alone, The House of the Devil is quite impressive. Every last retro touch from the clothes right down to the heroine’s walkman looks perfectly of the period.

Movie Review: 'Heckle' starring Steve Guttenberg
It’s almost hard to believe that at one time, Steve Guttenberg was a major Hollywood star. Coming off of his terrifically fun role in Police Academy in 1984, Guttenberg became a highly marketable talent. He got more than sequel out of The Police Academy movies, to declining interest each time and managed to squander the significant goodwill he’d accrued in Police Academy, a movie many people still love today.
