Halloween 2020
Halloween is right around the corner. With that, you can expect trick or treaters to roam around your neighborhood in the evening. While some people may be looking forward to the usual trick or treat adventure, it is important to keep in mind some safety precautions this year (2020). This year is unlike other years. The entire world is trying to operate while staying safe from the coronavirus. Therefore, I’ve laid out several pieces of advice in order to have fun while staying safe this Halloween.

Halloween costumes through the years
Oh, Halloween, such a bizarre time of year; where children sweep the streets in the hopes of getting sweets, while adults dress up as monsters and ghouls, or rather sexy monsters and ghouls. For me, it always seems to awaken something of a creative spark in me - sadly just not in the way that I would hope as a writer. Rather than bringing about some inspiring horror story or sinister psychological play - no, instead I opt for trying to create my own costumes. I have no idea why this comes about, I'm not even very good at it, actually, I'm just awful. So, here are some of my more noticeable memories of hideous and falling apart Halloween costumes...

The COVID-19 Marathon
Alright, y'all. Tis the COVID-19 season to wear sweatpants, off the shoulder jumbo sweaters, and a cup of coffee or tea on hand. There may be a spot on your shirt from where you tripped earlier or walked too fast with it in your hand, and it splashed on you.

Into The Woods
I hope you enjoy this Halloween story. It's going to be a beautiful 31 days of Halloween. Have a safe Halloween. 9:45 PM The road in front of him was illuminated faintly from the eerie glow of the full moon. If it weren't for the moon and his truck's bright lights, he would be plunged into a world of darkness, unable to see clearly. The long stretch of the highway was eerily quiet and there were no other cars or trucks. There usually was. But he was alone.

When Monsters Hide
Shield your eyes. But if you must look, if you are too curious, I cannot stop you. Here lies the scariest image you will ever come across. What you don’t realize is that you have seen it every halloween, for the past seven or so years, but your eyes have deceived you. You have fallen prey to it’s trap and illusion. What is it? Is it an alien creeping the Midwestern woods, here on earth to take over a town? Is it the ghost of an ancient mansion, finally captured on film? Is it a demon released from hell? Is it a witch flying through the forest?

Cruella's Karma
As a HUGE Disney fan, and lover of the villains as much as the heroes, Cruella has always been one of my favorites. While I was in college in New York City, I finally had the opportunity to be my own version of Cruella. She showed up to the party with blood still on her hands. Fresh from having made a new coat, she fit right in with the rest of the killers at the party.

Better Halloween Days
My favourite costume was from the year 2014. It seems like a lifetime ago and a completely different world to what we’re experiencing now. One of the most contentious presidential races in history is playing out before our eyes and we’re living through a pandemic that has killed over a million people worldwide. It feels like science fiction or the scary dystopian novel you’re forced to read in high school English class, such as The Handmaid's Tale, 1984, or Brave New World. All three books I highly recommend reading by the way.
