The Lady of The Lake
There once was a girl in the Pacific Northwest who held everything in the palm of her hand. Hers was a life of luxury, of affluence and influence – her childhood was served on a silver platter, as she was attended by a devoted mother, a doting father, and free of siblings to ruin the course of their favoritism. A staff assisted her when needed, modest but respectable, and she wanted for nothing. Her upbringing echoed the stories spun by Hollywood, which lay in the foothills of her haven – she was the envy of her age, her school, her community, and soon, much more. She lacked obstacles, and every opportunity awaited her. She set the stage, the scene, the mood, she was the life of the party, and the aspiration of all. She was a leader, a bold pioneer (of what, we cannot tell), and loud for all the world to hear – and they all followed. Every word. Every picture. Every carefully framed moment. Every curated thought, recycled, repacked, rebranded, and repainted as something new. She was incredibly important, she thought, and without fault, she knew (aside from minor character flaws – caring too much, thinking too deeply, and her love of dairy) – or so she thought she knew.

So She Screamed
It’s a grey afternoon as Jack Forester rowed his boat in the great sea, North of England. He knew a storm would be shortly coming in but he has been wanting to go fishing all summer - why would I turn back now? He thought as he looked towards the shore which is miles away from where his boat is sitting. His goal is to catch at least 6 dozen fish and planned to stay as long as he could for the last 3 dozen needed. As he brought up another Codfish, Jack saw something pale in the corner of his eye slightly below the surface of the grey lake. He put down his rod and leaned over his boat, trying to make the sight of what is floating below his boat. It looked rotted as it floated around the water. Some sort of green ooze swarmed the unknown object.

The Dark and Strange History of Jack O' Lanterns
Every year on Halloween, we decorate the outside of our homes with carved-out pumpkins. Seeing these sinister yet silly faces can make one think of Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas. What most of us don't know is why we have these orange heads. How did such a strange tradition start? The origins of jack o' lanterns are mixed. Celtic legends range from beheadings (yes, you heard me right) to simple superstitions. Let's go back in time!

The Best Solo and Small Halloween Party Ideas for 2021
With Halloween just around the corner, I'm sure we're all coming up with fantastic things to do to celebrate. With many people being fully vaccinated, there's a chance that most people will celebrate in-person. On the other hand, some people aren't fully vaccinated or are unvaccinated and can't celebrate in-person for whatever reason. Or some people are just too anxious and not ready to celebrate in-person just yet. Everyone will be celebrating Halloween differently this year. Some parents are eager to take their children trick-or-treating and some aren't for whatever the case may be.

Top 5 Halloween Movies
Halloween is just around the corner and with it comes more of a desire to be scared. It is often associated with elaborate costumes, drinking alcohol, making bad decisions and haunted houses. All things that Hollywood has certainly capitalized on. Not only is Halloween about being scared, but also about having fun with friends and having a good laugh. Thus, with that all being said, the idea of writing a top five Halloween films spawned and thanks to those over at the Vocal Social Society for really giving me the idea. The films below are measured on their merit in terms of scares as well as their fun factor as most Halloween movies are shared with those we care most about.

A Beautiful Day for a Cruise
Chapter One: WTF? Walter turned his pickup onto Avers avenue, the street he and his wife had bought a house on some 32 years ago. They had settled in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood. Sadly, when their eldest son Jack turned nine Isabel decided being a mother was too much of a burden. In reality drinking Pinot Noir in the afternoon was the burden, Isabel drained $7,000 from the family checking account and went west some twenty years ago.
