Ch5: Frog Wellies
Chapter Five: Frog Wellies It is a slightly sad sight. She is the only child left. She is sitting on the bottom stair of the old rambling Georgian house, already bundled up in a warm coat with the hood up. Attached to its sleeves there are matching mittens hobbling her hands, and her cheap looking green and white wellies are decorated with cartoonish frogs. All the lights are off, blinds pulled down, chairs put up on tables. The staff are extremely ready to go home for the day. They all have their coats on, too.

The Djinn
The Djinn Summer storms in South Texas blow in from nowhere and hemorrhage waterfalls. Just as quick, they disappear into the hazy blue yonder. That does a number on sun baked caliche as the runoff percolates and starts to boil lizards and rattlesnakes and scorpions.

Little Black Book
Little Black Book “We all have our own little black book.” The lawyer’s stoic tones did little to mask the audacious taunt of the lifelong recluse. Even in death, the old man made sure to keep his family angry. “We may not add to it often, but it steadily grows with each sordid little secret. Our family has so many that my little black book is no longer so little.”

The Presence
THE PRESENCE by: Samuel Earl Di Gangi 1 The walls shook. That took some real work because the walls of this old duplex were quite solid but just the same, they shook. The sound of breaking furniture, shattering glass, and angry voices penetrated the calmness of this otherwise placid night. Her voice was as shrill as gargled glass and his as coarse as the soured milk that had been within it.

The Well of Vibrant Health
Audra absorbed her life in healthy living. She enjoyed the thrill of discovering a new low-sodium recipe or finding the perfect mix of ingredients to enhance the flavors of her juicing diets, she had two different gym memberships because neither gym had all the machines she liked to use, she taught yoga to senior citizens at the local city center, and she handed out small bags of sunflower seeds on Halloween.

Right On Schedule
After finally ending things with Robert, a financial advisor who reminded her--in both appearance and personality-- of a stick of sugar-free gum, Eliza had packed all her belongings into a rented truck and driven the roughly fifteen hundred miles from Littleton, New Hampshire to Reddington Beach, Florida. She drove all the way through, stopping only to sleep in a rest stop just past the Virginia border and then again in Orlando when biblical sheets of rain made driving on the six-lane highway near impossible. There, she pulled into a roadside stop that advertised a baby gator park, where visitors could feed the infant reptiles, and a gift shop where one could buy gator jerky and leather. Eliza, more perturbed by the rain than the macabre circle-of-life reptile farm, stayed in the truck and waited for the rain to pass.

Blood and Bond
It had been one month since their grandmother died. Jeanine felt anxious about moving back to her childhood home with her sister Carrie, they hadn't spoken in six years. Not even at the funeral. She wondered why Carrie was even in the Will. As Jeanine's hand hovered over the front doorknob she took a deep breath. She could hear music blaring inside. Carrie was already there. "Damn" she thought. "Not even time to settle in peace". She opened the door and saw that the house was filthy. Carrie dropped her bag at the stairs and followed the music to her sister’s room. She knocks on the door. The music stops and her sister opens the door. "Well I guess the fun is over." Jeanine sighs. "Do you even want to be here? Look at this place...how long have you been here? You didn't even bother to clean up?" Carrie rolls her eyes and falls back onto her old bed. Dust comes up and she starts to cough. "Ok you have a point...but I only got here only 40 minutes ago....We're gonna sell the place anyway right? Who cares what it looks like now." Carrie lights a joint. Jeanine scoffs. "Unfucking believable. You're still the same. We're not selling the house. Even if we wanted to, look at the state it's in! I should have known you were after money! This is all that we have left of Grandma!!!" Carrie answers coldly "So?" In disbelief Jeanine walks up to Carrie and slaps her before heading for the door. Carrie pushes Jeanine down and they start fighting. In the rustle they both fall down the stairs. They get up, and they go their rooms in silence. After Jeanine patches herself up, she changes the sheets and goes to bed. She cries herself to sleep. The next Morning she wakes up still feeling tired.
