Horror fiction that delivers on its promise to scare, startle, frighten and unsettle. These stories are fake, but the shivers down your spine won't be.
Martin's Dream Date
Athena was looking at her emails to see if she had heard anything back from user name: Handsome Man 2020 and so far there was nothing. She wondered if she would hear from him. She thought back to their chat on the LookingforLove website, and how he sounded like the perfect man for her. His pictures didn't look too bad either. They had been chatting for a couple of months; and the more they chatted, the more she wanted to meet this almost too good to be true man.

The Wine Cellar
If I hadn't worn the white dress; if he hadn't spilled the merlot. I'll never quite understand which was contingent upon the other, but there was cause and effect there, I'm certain of that. I knew better than to wear white; if he hadn't spilled something on me, I certainly would have before the end of the evening, so maybe it was a relief, some of the pressure removed, to have the crimson stain spreading across my torso be his handiwork instead of the inevitable result of my own unfathomable clumsiness. Let's call it that.

The Lakeside Slasher
Visions of faceless people danced in his nightmares. Victor woke in a cold sweat, shivering under his drenched comforter. For a week straight these recurring nightmares had haunted him. He knew the faceless figures but did not understand how. It was three-thirty in the morning and he had to be to work at five; more sleep was out of the question.

Macabre Clowns
You could feel something sinister blowing in with the treacherous nor'easter. The ominous gray skies accompanied by the first few flurries and the odd addition of lightning, gave Judy the willies. Something was stirring in the atmosphere, but it was not just the impending storm. Everyone at the local store was talking about the way their hair was standing on end, almost as if the air was electrified.

Blood Addiction
Chapter 2 “Aw man what the hell Julian?” All I could hear was Tony panicking in my ear pacing back and forth in Jane’s apartment. She’s been knocked out for about 3 hours and he was starting to worry. To be honest I don’t know what the hell happened. The last thing I remembered was feeling a shock go down my arm when she accidentally brushed her hand against mine at the blood bank. After that it was like everything happened in a quick blur. She got dazed, passed out, and hasn’t been up since then. I looked over to my little brother and started shaking my head.

Cuffing Craze
Casey was talking to the police about the events of the night, when suddenly she felt like she was being watched. She grew more and more uneasy as the conversation went on and she asked an officer if someone could patrol her building for the night until she could get the locks changed since James had her keys. An officer assured they would keep an eye on things, and told her to get some rest. Casey tossed all night, finding it hard to sleep as she still felt someone's eyes on her. She looked at the clock that shone a bright, red "3:30". She was never going to be able to get sleep at this point, especially since she had to be awake in 3 hours to get ready for her day. After another hour of rolling around in her bed, she decided to call off from work today since she had to go get new locks for her apartment anyway, and she knew that without any sleep, she wouldn't be very productive anyway.

MOLDY BREAD
THE THIRTEENTH EXCERPT FROM DR. JAGEN'S BLACK JOURNAL: "Why have you kept me around this long?" I have changed my course of action going into today's session. Now that the child chooses to speak to me, I will not pre-formulate questions that attempt to diagnose it as a brown-level patient. That will skew my interpretation of the conversation. I need to ask questions that flow naturally from the conversation, and then reflect afterwards upon the child's answers.

The Red Kid
I was driving home from the inpatient facility in Tulsa, one night back in 2016, when I decided I needed a break; some little diversion from the troublesome and untenable routine my life had fallen into. My oldest daughter, Madelyn, had always had difficulties, but since she turned sixteen, things seemed to have gotten worse. She heard voices, she said, and though we took precautions around the house, she was finding new ways to hurt herself. Late night trips to check into Parker Heights Mental Healthcare facility for a few days had practically become a weekly arrangement.

Reminiscence (Ch 2: Housekeeping)
Perhaps my fatigue got the best of me, or perhaps the locks on the door rusted shut, but the front door of the house would not budge. The door, exposed to the intense sunlight for God knows how long, had its hinges welded tight against the frame. My efforts to open it were useless.

Wine and Dine Disaster
As Casey stands there, looking at herself in the mirror, she can't help but wonder if she actually wants to go on this date or not. She met James at the supermarket, doing some routine grocery shopping. Staring at the meet selection, she just happened to look up at this handsome stranger standing next to her, staring at her instead of the steaks in front of them. As they started talking and decided to exchange numbers, Casey felt like there could be something there, but she was sure it was mostly because she had been single for so long, she forgot how to notice any red flags that may pop up initially. As they finished their separate shopping, they ended up at the check out at the same time and walked out of the store together to their own vehicles. Casey notices James had a really nice truck and was dressed pretty nicely too, so maybe she could do this.
