Revenge
I had searched for him nearly half of my life. The monster that destroyed my village and my family. I was away on a quest for the king that I succeeded in, though with great difficulty. The King had been attacked and his father killed in combat. He sent me to take his revenge and I did with skill. On my way home I imagined seeing my wife and daughter standing in front of our house at the village edge. I fantasized as to their smiles and beeming faces mirroring my own. Instead I arrived back at my home greeted with ash and collapsed buildings. Not even the bones of my loved ones could be found for burial.

Inside the Mirror
I wake in a cold sweat, jumping up from where I'm laying. Looking around, this is not my bed. This is not my house, where the hell am I?! I look around to take in my surroundings, I'm in the woods. Deep in the woods by the looks of it, but how? I don’t even live near the woods, I'm about fifty miles from the closest hiking trail, let alone a forest. I look around confused for a few minutes before I decide I probably shouldn't keep sitting on the ground, but where am I going to go? I don't even know where I am.. I hear birds chirping in the distance, I feel the breeze between the trees. I’m washed with a sense of calm, as weird as it seems. Perfect balance of sound and fresh air, I feel like it's cleaning my soul. I looked around where I was laying, looking for some evidence of someone bringing me here, looking for my phone or a cigarette and lighter at least. I find nothing, and search my pockets, hoping there's some clue as to how this happened, but I’m at a loss. Behind me I hear the leaves on the ground rustle, sounding like footsteps. I whip my head around to find a small wooden box, the size of a little jewelry box.

Witches Scarier
On top of a hill, a thatched cottage sits alone. A town can be seen to the northeast on the other side of a frozen peat bog far below. When the sun is at the right angle, a darkened image of the town reflects back from the bog from up here. On this particular day, that angle is at exactly 4 o'clock. The most prominent feature is a church steeple that protrudes ominously from the town's center on the ice. The horizon is obscured in every other direction by a dense forest, which is covered in snow so thick that the trees resemble the arctic pyramids of antediluvian gods.

The Rise of the Daeterra
Green webs of energy filtered across her vision as shadows appeared where no other eye could see. However, the shadow they were looking for was nowhere in sight. The shadow across from her sighed for what had to be the third time within the hour. They had come in together an hour before under the guise of "a romantic evening" and her "date" had excused himself with the story of an emergency at the office, before sneaking around back, exchanging the suit for his armor and gear, and returning undetected.

The Crossroads Inn
It was as if the sky had gotten out of a relationship that it thought would last forever because this rain seemed to never end. Cries of thunder shook the ground around me as I walked quickly through this concrete jungle. Small rivers of water raced through the streets looking for a way into the sewer system. People ran to get to shelter, and cars whisked through these new rivers as if they were nothing. I walked, looking for a place that I could call my own for the remainder of this storm, and perhaps grab a drink.

"Lucky"
When Brian the bartender re-entered the Lucky Penny night club he removed his wet hat and coat. A young woman approached him and Brian placed both of the clothing items over her thin extended arms. She nearly collapsed from their weight with a grunt. Brian was not an eight to nine foot giant as one would periodically see around Dice City, but he was a menacing and broad seven foot five. Anytime he would meet a giant around the city they would call him tiny. In his youth that irritated him into fighting as often as possible even with the giants. As a result he learned to fight far too well early on. Anyone else would be dead by now except that Brian also learned to back off from violence until it was necessary. It was this educated reserve that brought him to the attention of the Head Chef. The current owner of The Lucky Penny night club.
