Among Monsters
September 7th, 2017 Uh, howdy. I don’t really know what to do with this, I was told by my therapist to keep a journal to record my thoughts. I suppose I should start with who I am. My name is Hunter Queen, I am 22 years old, and my favorite hobbies are reading and making things out of Mighty Blox. I know, a bit childish, but I can make some pretty neat stuff.

The Scissor Claus Massacre
As I reflect on those winters growing up in Roanoke, Minnesota in the eighties, I feel an icy chill on the back of my neck. This story was to remain forgotten not because so many years have passed but because the horror of events that unfolded on Christmas Eve in 1982 was what some would call the ruin of Roanoke and its people, except for one. I am the sole survivor of that night, known as the Scissor Claus Massacre.

6 Hours
Edwin awoke to crisp air flowing through his window, a familiar feeling to him. He groggily uncovers himself and arises from the bed, feeling unsteady and sore. His head throbs with an insistent pounding, causing him to wince and lean against his dresser while trying to catch his breath. His back, shoulders and knees ache, causing him to wobble on unsteady feet.

We Continued To Make Up Predictions Which Grew Steadily Worse
The sky was filled with a blanket of stars that stretched to infinity. The silvery moon peeked out from the grey clouds and the crystal clear lake mirrored the moon which shone like a mid-tone gray medallion. Sandra, Carla, Tulip, Penny and I were taking a stroll down the street. We were chatting about our school stuffs and other things as well. Suddenly, to change the topic Carla commenced to tell some funny jokes. We all the time or sometimes liked to call Carla 'The Queen of Jokes' because among all of us she had the very most sense of humor. With a start, our gales of laughter came to an abrupt halt when we came across the abandoned mansion which lied deserted in the middle of the street. A shiver of apprehension ran down our spines at the very first sight of it. Some foxes were seen creeping out from the back of the building. They had sharp teeth and was drooling too. All of our faces became a mask of terror when we were spotted by those horrifyingly creatures.

My Nightmare
“Who weeps for the Devil?” So the way I see it Satan gets a bad rap. I’m not saying the dude is a choir boy but the sum of all evil? Really? How very Christian to assume that you could so easily separate the light from the dark anyway. You take the good with the bad. Dude screwed you over on a deal? Shouldn’t have been so quick to sell your soul. Call a lawyer first. A good one. If they don’t have him on speed dial they ain’t the one.

Moonlight Passions
The smell of burnt flesh and smoke woke her with a start and then she heard her mother’s screams and knew she had to get away. She wrote one last entry in her mother’s secret book saying “I will never forget mom. I love you.” Eire grabbed up her little knapsack and slipped out the back door of their little house. She ducked into the tree-line and went to the cave she had discovered when she was little. She knew she had to get away from there by the break of daylight. The villagers would be looking for her to put her to the same fate because she was like her mother and had learned read and write in the secret ways of nature.

Grandmom’s Love
I don't know if anyone will read this, I don't even know if anyone will care, but I have to tell someone. It's too much to process right now, and maybe if I get some of it off my chest, it will make it easier to handle. I'm getting ready to go off into the unknown, and I feel like someone needs to know why. Someone needs to know how it came to all this and how I came to be a potential murderer/ avenging angel.

Howling
Every night the howls happen. Nine pm on the dot, they sound and echo throughout the forest and town. Everyone knows to be in by eight, everyone did. People would often open doors to hurriedly offer others a place to stay for the night. From nine to the first rays of sunlight, don’t stray outside. But, that’s all within reason as several businesses still run. For instance, this wonderful gas station that stays open twenty-four seven.

Reality
There was a hum that filled the room. It was faint, but just loud enough to annoy Tim, keeping him awake. As he tossed and turned in bed, frustrated by the noise, he heard a “click”. Raised his head, then again “click, click”. It wasn’t loud, but it sounded as if someone was flipping a switch. The room was still dark and if it was a switch to the lights outside of his room, the light would have crept through the bottom of his bedroom door. But there was nothing, just the click, and the hum. After laying his head back down, he was able to will himself back to sleep.
