Dark Energy: The Mortal Fracture
CHAPTER THREE: ADVANCEMENTS & SETBACKS Alaska – Winter 2010 The plane dipped and pitched as it fought its way through the Arctic wind and snow. Flurries of snow danced around the engines of the twin-prop plane searching for a way to rob the engines of their heat. Inside, Sade sat buried under a pile of files, notes and charts, oblivious to the violent struggle that was taking place outside. Her mind spun, trying to find a solution to their antibody source problem.

Dark Energy: The Mortal Fracture
CHAPTER TWO: NOT QUITE LEGAL, BUT INTERESTING Arctic – Winter 2010 Racing across the Arctic tundra the doctors clung to the snowmobile as shards of razor sharp ice crystals assaulted their bodies. The engine of the snowmobile growled and fought against the load that it carried and the frigidness of the air. The lights from the team’s base camp appeared like dawn on the horizon. It was the only visible light for miles. In fact, the closest city, Barrow, Alaska, was nearly fifty miles to the west. The two didn’t try to talk to one another, as the interference from the snowstorm and the noise from the snowmobile made it impossible to hear anything even on headsets at this point. Instinctively, however, they were communicating about what steps needed to be taken as soon as they reached the camp. Wasi knew he needed to set up an exam room, gather medical equipment, and get the bear moved inside, while Sade knew that she needed to set up the sonogram, gather her supplies, and keep the rest of the team away from what they were doing.

Gold Hood
In life, there are certain things that become increasingly apparent as time passes. One of those things is that Anahid had no interest in most things the other girls did in the village. New, fancy dresses would only get dirtied as she ran through the dirt and mud. Boys were just wrestling partners. Gossip and rumors were just boring stories that ended the same way. Anahid was interested in one thing and one thing only.

Beneath the Skin
I can remember the feeling of loss. The pain can brighten one’s life to a point where all you can do is just smile. I can see the moment so clearly, I was about ten years of age and I could picture my mother lying in her laced bed. She whispered to my father about something grave, but it seemed as if my father had no care. Her completion was becoming pale as if she had tasted poison. Few weeks flew by and my mother grew weaker, eventually dying. We had a funeral for her the following week. We had no relatives attend the funeral, for all had died by some 'disease'. During the burying of my mother, a tear dropped down from my eye as if the world had changed meaning. Looking up at my father I had seen a faint smile upon his face. I knew from then on I had no one to count on, not ever.

Dark Energy: The Mortal Fracture
CHAPTER ONE: ON TOP OF THE WORLD Arctic – Winter 2010 The cold, clear water filled all of the visible space that lay in front of the divers. Bubbles from their auger masks collected at the icy ceiling of the Arctic Ocean. As the divers passed close to the frozen mass, their hands playfully stroked it, chasing the bubbles that they introduced into this alien environment.

Immortal || Chapter 28
I knelt by her bedside for a day and a half as Natalie laid there motionless. There were times her facial expression changed as though she was in pain. After taking a few moments of crying and holding onto her hand tightly, I gathered myself up and went to my study to find information on a man I had known all my life. He was like a brother to me growing up and finding that he was a vampire made the world not seem empty. I had found him a few days after my mansion burned down. Thanks to Racheal, she had led me right to him and he took me in for a while until I had decided I wanted to move on.
