Roadside Horror

A Terrifying Encounter with a Serial Killer

By Muhammad Salman ShahPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

It was a stormy night, and Sarah was on her way home from a long shift at the diner. The rain was coming down in sheets, making it difficult to see more than a few feet in front of the car. She had never been a fan of driving in inclement weather, but she didn't have a choice - she needed to get home.

As she drove down the deserted road, Sarah felt a chill run down her spine. It felt as though someone was watching her, following her every move. She tried to shake the feeling, telling herself it was just her imagination, but it persisted.

She glanced in the rearview mirror, but all she could see was the darkness behind her. She turned on the radio, hoping that the sound of music would calm her nerves. But it wasn't long before she realized that something was wrong.

As she drove, she saw a figure standing in the middle of the road up ahead. She slammed on the brakes, and the car skidded to a stop just inches away from the figure. It was a man, dressed in ragged clothing and looking as though he hadn't slept or eaten in days.

"Please," he begged, "help me. My car broke down and I've been wandering for hours."

Sarah hesitated for a moment, but eventually she opened the door and allowed the man to climb in. He smelled like dirt and sweat, but she tried not to let it bother her. She offered him a ride, hoping to get him to a safe place where he could get help.

As they drove, the man told Sarah strange stories of his life on the road. He spoke of demons and ghosts, and Sarah began to feel uneasy. But she tried to stay calm, telling herself that he was just a harmless eccentric.

But it wasn't until they reached her house that things took a turn for the worse.

The man's eyes gleamed as he climbed out of the car, and Sarah realized too late that he had no intention of leaving. She tried to run, but he caught her by the hair and dragged her inside.

The man revealed himself to be a serial killer, and Sarah was his latest victim. He tortured her for hours, delighting in her screams of agony. But just when Sarah thought she couldn't take any more, she found the strength to fight back.

Using a shard of glass from a broken lamp, Sarah plunged it into the man's eye. He screamed and stumbled back, giving Sarah the chance to grab a nearby kitchen knife. She plunged it into his chest, again and again, until he lay motionless on the floor.

Sarah had survived, but the horror of that night would haunt her for the rest of her life. She quit her job at the diner and moved away, trying to leave the memories behind. But no matter where she went, she could never escape the feeling that the killer was still out there, waiting for her.

Years passed, and Sarah grew old. But the memories of that night remained as vivid as ever. And then, one day, she received a letter in the mail.

It was from the killer, and it read simply: "I'm still alive."

Sarah knew then that she would never truly be free of the horror that had changed her life forever. She lived the rest of her days in fear, always looking over her shoulder, always waiting for the killer to strike again. And though she never heard from him again, she knew that he was out there, somewhere, always watching, always waiting.

In the end, Sarah realized that the horror she had experienced was not just the physical trauma of the attack itself. It was the realization that evil exists in the world,
