Real-Life Jinn Encounters
Terrifying Stories of Supernatural Afflictions
The first incident was sent to us by Nafiz Hasan Khokon. His home is in the village of Khalisakundi, Daulatpur Thana, Kushtia District. The next incident was sent to us by someone whose several stories we have already broadcast. Her name is Sumaiya Jahan Sumi, and her home is in Krishnakathi village, Bakerganj Thana, Barisal District. So, the first incident is from Khokon, and he took his HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate) exam in 2024. Let's get to the main story. The incident happened to one of his aunts. His maternal grandfathers are three brothers, and all three are currently alive. The incident happened to the youngest daughter of his middle maternal grandfather, meaning one of his aunts. The time frame of the incident is the late 1990s, sometime after 1998. In 1998, vast areas of the country were affected by a devastating flood. Their area was not outside of the areas that were flooded. The surrounding areas, specifically the market in their area, which is the Khalisakundi market, had an iron bridge. People from the surrounding areas used that iron bridge to travel. That bridge was also affected by the flood and was submerged. With the bridge being submerged, you can imagine how much water there was. Khokon wasn't even born yet at that time. His birth year is later. The incident happened sometime between 1998 and 2000. He heard the story from his mother. His aunt's name is Tanjila. At the time of the incident, Tanjila Aunt was 17 years old. Tanjila Aunt has an older sister, but we are not mentioning her name for obvious reasons.
So at that time, meaning the time after 1998, Khokon Bhai's mother and that Tanzila Aunty, these two, would visit Tanzila Aunty's elder sister every Friday because there was no school on Fridays. Their mother and Tanzila Aunty would go to the elder sister's house every Friday. The elder aunt's house was in a village called Sadarpur in the Mirpur Upazila of Kushtia district. The distance from their village Khalisakundi to Sadarpur was about four to five kilometers, so they had to go by bus. On one particular Friday, for some reason, Khokon Bhai's mother could not go with Tanzila Aunty, so Tanzila Aunty set off alone to her elder sister's house from her own home. On the way, just before entering Khalisakundi market, there were some very scary houses and gardens belonging to the Belu family, and there was also a grave. Over time, there has been significant development, and the grave is no longer visible in the same way because a building has been constructed there, transforming it into a market. Anyway, as she walked through the market, she reached the bus stand quite normally and safely arrived at her aunt's house. After reaching her aunt's house, they chatted and had food, and as time passed, it became night. When it was time to sleep, she thought of going to the washroom. She didn't go alone; she called her elder sister, who also went with her. Her elder sister stood a little away with a hurricane lamp. Tanzila Aunty entered the washroom, which was right next to a house. It wasn't directly under the house, but there was a bamboo nearby, and if the wind blew, the bamboo would lean over the washroom. The washroom was made of mud. Just a few minutes after she entered the washroom, suddenly, she called out to her elder sister from inside, saying, "Hey, sister, water is dripping on me from this bamboo leaf."
Then, his older sister, I mean the eldest aunt, was saying, "Oh, dew collects on bamboo leaves at night. It's just water falling like that, it's nothing." After a while, he said again, "Sister, I feel like water was thrown on me again. This isn't leaf water." Then the older sister said, "Oh, it's nothing. It probably felt like a lot of leaf water fell on you at once, that's why it feels like that. Come out quickly." So he freshened up and came out. He went inside the house. There were no problems that night. The main problem started in the morning. The middle aunt developed a very high fever. The eldest aunt took the fever normally. She brought medicine from the pharmacy in the nearby market and gave it to her aunt to eat. Instead of the fever going down after taking the medicine, it kept increasing. So, we did what we normally do, applied cold compresses, gave her better medicine, everything was done, but nothing worked. Meanwhile, she kept talking nonsense in the fever. Four days passed like this. After four days, the news was given to that aunt's house, that is, the middle aunt's house. After some time of receiving the news, Tanjila Khala was brought to the eldest aunt's house from her house. As the fever didn't subside with medicine, on the advice of people, the middle aunt was taken to a traditional healer. Accordingly, some ordinary healers were consulted, but nothing worked. A search was made for a big healer nearby. Accordingly, a healer was found in a village called Baut in Gang Thana of Meherpur district. Without delay, he was taken to that healer on the same day. So, what did the healer do? He summoned a jinn into the middle aunt's body through his rituals. He asked the jinn, "Who are you? Where did you come from?"
So, that jinn only replied that it came from Belur's residence. Immediately after saying this, the jinn started cursing the Kabiraj (traditional healer) in the most obscene language, words that are truly unspeakable. Khokon Bhai did send us a written account, but those words are just too vulgar to express. Anyway, the Kabiraj realized that he couldn't handle this case. He performed some rituals and sent them home. Several more days passed like this. Everyone in the family was upset. They were consulting doctors and Kabirajs, but nothing was working. She was getting injections to reduce the fever and taking various high-dose antibiotics, but there was no sign of the fever subsiding. On the advice of people in the neighborhood, they started searching for an even more experienced Kabiraj. Within a few days, they found one. This Kabiraj's address was in a village called Kodalkathi in Gangni Thana, Meherpur district.
As planned, they took her to that Kabiraj. The Kabiraj performed his rituals and learned through the rituals that the jinn residing in this aunt's body was a man-eating jinn. Apparently, this jinn had already consumed two-thirds of Tanzila Khala's body, leaving less than one-third remaining. Then the Kabiraj said, "It's too late. This girl cannot be saved. Only Allah can save her through His special grace. No Kabiraj in the world can save this girl. Don't run around unnecessarily. Pray to Allah. There's no point in running after Kabirajs. If the girl wants to eat something good, feed her. And everyone, take good care of her. Relatives who are around should come and see her." After hearing this, naturally, no one in the family could be happy. A shadow of grief descended upon the family. They brought her home from the Kabiraj. Relatives were constantly arriving. The family members were weeping. It was like a wake for a dead person in the house, even though the person was still alive. The mourning was like how it would be if someone had died. Dear listeners, please try to imagine what the atmosphere is like when there is this kind of crying in a house while a person is still alive.
Many people used to come to see Tanzila Khala (Aunt Tanzila). She would tell everyone, "Forgive me, I won't live anymore." She would ask everyone for forgiveness. Relatives also went back to their homes as they wished. Some relatives stayed with the second aunt. Basically, from the day after coming from that Kabiraj (traditional healer), Khala couldn't speak. After that, a terrible shadow of grief descended upon the family. That night passed with her unable to speak. The next day in the afternoon, Khala breathed her last, leaving the illusion of this world. As usual, she was given a burial with proper shrouding and placed in her grave. But what was Tanzila Khala's crime? What wrong did she do for which she had to be punished? She didn't throw any dirt anywhere, didn't spit, didn't cough, didn't desecrate any place, didn't hurt any animal, so why would she be affected by a Jinn? Nothing. Even then, why did she have to suffer this punishment? This mystery remains unresolved. What was her crime? Why did this innocent girl have to give her life? Khokon Bhai (Brother Khokon) has told us that may Allah judge the Jinn that caused Tanzila Khala's death. And Khokon Bhai's father is a small businessman. They have a small shop in Khalisakundi Bazar. Dear listeners, such incidents shake our hearts. It is very difficult to say what the solution is or why this happened. However, I will say this much: after performing every obligatory prayer (Salat), if we recite Surah Ikhlas, Falaq, and Nas, or Surah Kafiroon, Ikhlas, Falaq, and Nas, or Surah Falaq and Nas three times each, especially after Fajr prayer three times, after Maghrib prayer three times, and after other obligatory prayers once each, and blow on our bodies, and recite Ayat al-Kursi and blow on our bodies, and especially when leaving our homes, we must, when we leave with our families, when we leave with our children, recite a prayer before leaving, recite Ayat al-Kursi before leaving. If we don't know that much, then we can recite "A'uzu billahi min kulli kalima" or this prayer before leaving. Especially, we should at least recite "A'uzu bi kalimati-llahi" before leaving. InshaAllah (God willing), by the infinite mercy of Allah, Allah will protect us from such sudden dangers.
Because if you recite this prayer before leaving, our Creator Himself takes responsibility for our protection, so we have nothing to worry about. Therefore, we will try our best to recite "A'uzu bi Kalimatillah" at least three times and blow it on our bodies before leaving. Besides that, I don't really have any other advice to give on how to protect yourself from such sudden dangers. Let's move on to our fifth story. As I mentioned at the beginning, this story was sent to us by Sumaiya Jahan Sumi. Her home is in Krishnaghati village, Bakerganj, Barisal district. We have already shared several of her stories, including one about her family. So, let's begin the story. The location of the incident is the Joilsa Bazar area of Subitkhali in Barguna district, which takes about two hours to reach from their Krishnakathi village in Barisal. You have to pass by their house to get there. This is a family incident, and the person involved is none other than her own sister. They are currently five siblings. I say "currently" because if you listen to her previous story, you'll understand why I'm saying they are currently five siblings. And this Sumi is the youngest of them all. They are four sisters and one brother now. The incident happened to her second eldest sister, Asma. Her second eldest sister got married at a very young age and moved to her in-laws' house. She was married at the age of 14 or 15. They all grew up in Dhaka, so they weren't very familiar with the village environment or atmosphere. They hadn't really experienced the culture or customs of the village people in that way. However, after her marriage, her sister integrated so well with the village people at her in-laws' house that she became like a member of their own family. At that time, her sister didn't have any children. About a year after her sister's marriage in Barguna, one day, news was sent from Asma's in-laws' house to Sumi's father, urging him to go to their house as soon as possible.
So, Sumi,
Apu's (elder sister's) father lived in Dhaka. As soon as he got the news, he left immediately because, in over a year, they had never sent such urgent news from his in-laws' house. He wondered what was wrong, if Asma had gotten into some trouble there, since she grew up in the city and the village environment might cause some issues. But he hadn't heard anything for a year and a half, so what suddenly happened? It could be something family-related. He thought like this and quickly set off for Barguna. He arrived, but it was already night.
At that time, Sumi Apu was in fifth grade. When Apu's father arrived, he saw that Asma Apu was asleep, so he didn't wake her. He ate dinner with everyone and went to sleep. That night, Asma Apu's in-laws didn't say anything to Sumi Apu's father because he had traveled a long way. So they didn't say anything. The next morning, when Asma Apu didn't wake up, Sumi Apu's father went to Asma Apu and called her many times. At that time, Sumi Apu's middle sister's (Asma Apu's) husband was at home. He called and called, but she didn't wake up. Then Asma Apu's father-in-law came to Apu's father and said, "Look at my daughter, what kind of problem have we gotten into? Your daughter isn't waking up. I know her like my own daughter, I never intentionally hurt her, and everyone in the house likes her very much. Everyone gets along well with her. Suddenly, what happened yesterday? I can't understand anything. You know a little bit about folk medicine, you understand a little bit about spirits, so that's why I called you first. Your daughter needs to call you first since you know about these things." Then Sumi Apu's father asked, "What happened? Tell me, what happened to Asma? Tell me everything." Then Asma Apu's father-in-law said, "Last night, Asma was screaming and shouting loudly in her sleep. We thought she was having a bad dream, so she was yelling. When we went to her, Asma's mother-in-law touched her..."
Then, her mother-in-law, I mean, she was thrown back, such a state, such a shock, and she was screaming in her sleep, "Don't hit me, don't hit me," screaming like that. After a long time of this, she became quiet. Since then, she hasn't woken up. See, she still hasn't woken up. We took her to the doctor, but the doctor can't figure anything out. The doctor says they can't say anything until she regains consciousness. When her mother-in-law went to hold her, her body had many, I mean, many marks of beating were visible on her body. It looked like someone had whipped her with a cane. But who would hit her? Her husband isn't home, and her husband never raises his hand to her. And we don't say anything to her either; we treat her like our own daughter. Then Sumi's father said, "Okay, don't worry, I'll see what can be done." After saying this, Sumi's father rubbed mustard oil on Asma's head three times. After doing this, Asma started sobbing in her sleep. After about an hour, Asma regained full consciousness. Asma could barely get out of bed; it seemed like her body was in a lot of pain. When she regained consciousness, when she saw her own father, Asma grabbed her father and started crying, saying, "Father, you've come! Look at the beating they gave me! Look, they hit my hands, my neck, my back, how badly they beat me!" Then Sumi's father said, "Okay, my dear, I'll listen to everything. Go now, take a bath, eat something, and then I'll see what can be done." Then Asma exclaimed, "No, no, I won't go towards the canal! That thing is there; it will hit me again if it sees me!" Then her father said, "Okay, you don't have to go to the canal. Take a bath with tap water, then eat something." After seeing her own father, Asma became much better, such a state, you know.
Anyway, after dinner that night, my father sat Asma Apu down and asked her everything. Then, Asma Apu revealed a mysterious story, bit by bit. Before she tells the story, let me give a little description of her in-laws' house, so it will be easier for the listeners to understand.
So, Asma Apu's in-laws' house is quite far inside, making it difficult to get to. There are many large houses there. In one house, there are 18 to 20 rooms. Behind each house, a canal is dug for bathing and other chores. Similarly, behind Asma Apu's in-laws' house, there was also a canal. Just across it were paddy fields, and the canal was very narrow and long. You could even take a boat through this canal to their market during the monsoon season. There's a landing there so the women of the house can do their necessary work. Now, let's get to Asma Apu's story.
Asma Apu was saying that after finishing all her work at night, she went to sleep. After a while, she fell asleep. In her dream, she saw herself waking up to perform ablution for Fajr prayer, just like she always does. She's the first one to wake up in the house. Although she grew up in the city, her behavior was just like that of a housewife in a rural village. That's how well she had blended in. She would wake up before everyone else, pray Fajr, and start her household chores. This was her daily routine. In her dream, she saw herself waking up in the same way.
So, when she went to the ghat to perform ablution, she saw a man wearing a sleeveless vest, what we call a "sandow vest," performing ablution there. She thought maybe it was her brother-in-law, but even in the dream, she was thinking, "My brother-in-law isn't home, and my husband is in Dhaka, so who is this?" Then she thought, "Maybe it's my husband's elder brother." Her husband's elder brother lived in the village, but he never woke up early. She had never seen him get up before dawn to perform ablution for the Fajr prayer. She was thinking about that in the dream too. She was wondering who it could be.
And she stood there watching the man continuously performing ablution. Ablution should end after a while, but no, he kept performing ablution. He kept washing his hands, kept washing his face. After finishing the ablution, he would start again. He kept doing it over and over. So, in the dream, she was thinking, "This man keeps performing ablution at this hour, and I'm standing here. I need to perform ablution and go home. If the sun rises, the time for prayer will pass."
Inside, she noticed another thing: the man was sitting, but he was very tall. She thought, "I'm tall, but not this tall."
In the meantime, Asma, dear, thinking it was her husband's elder brother, called out to him several times. In that region, elders are called "Dadu," or something similar, by those who live there. So, she called out, "Oh Dadu, Dadu," but after calling out many times, she didn't get any response. At that time, he was just continuously performing ablution. Then, in the dream, Asma got very angry and said, "Hey you! Couldn't you find any other place so early in the morning? Don't you know the wives of the household come here to perform ablution and wash their faces in the morning? Can't you perform ablution at your own house or in the college?"
And he was supposed to be done with ablution by now. Does he keep doing ablution, like finishing once and starting again, and starting again? So many people will be coming here. Go quickly, finish your work and leave from here. After saying this, the man gets up from his seated position. And then Asma sees that the man is very tall. And since Asma grew up in Dhaka, she didn't really have much knowledge about Djinn-related things. And she had never been in such a situation before, nor did she know anything about it. And she was dreaming that when the man stood up and Asma looked up at him, it was dark, but the man's face was bright, that much was clear. And you could tell from his eyes that he was very angry. Even in the darkness, his face was visible, it seemed like a faint glow was on his face, but the source of the light was not clear. It felt like light was shining from inside his face, such was the situation. The man was very angry. In this situation, the man exclaimed, "Hey Semri, how dare you! You misbehave with me, you disrupt my worship. " Then Asma realized that this man was no ordinary human being. Then Asma got very scared in the dream and tried to scream and shout in the dream, but couldn't. And on the other hand, the man says that my worship is being disrupted because of you, what will I do or not do, will I ask you? You have to be punished for this. After saying this, the man raises his hand and strikes in the air, like we are showing someone far away that we are slapping them or hitting them. The man, from that distance, sees Asma in the dream and strikes Asma in the chest with his hand in that way. Even though he was hitting the air from a distance, Asma felt like someone was constantly beating her with a cane, and she felt the same pain as if she was being hit with a cane. She was screaming like that in her sleep.
So, after that, she doesn't remember anything. When she regained consciousness, Asma Apa saw her father. This long period of unconsciousness... but after that, Asma Apa was sick for almost a week. Asma Apa's father did a lot; he consulted doctors, even very big doctors were consulted. And Asma Apa's father, he himself was a folk healer (Kobiraj), he applied all his known, like, the highest level of his knowledge, but it was no use. So, when Asma Apa prays and fasts regularly, there are no problems, but if she does it a little less, there are problems. This problem is still ongoing.
However, the strange thing is that this jinn never possesses her body. Even many people have tried to bring that jinn into Asma Apa's body to talk to it, but no one has been able to do that either. In the meantime, there have been some changes in Asma Apa's behavior. Her anger has increased a lot. When she gets very angry, she wants to commit suicide. Because of this, Asma Apa's husband and her children are always in a state of fear. They usually don't want to leave her alone outside. They still don't know what the solution to this is. This happened in a dream.
We see so many things in dreams. Such an event happened in a dream, the impact of which still remains, which she is carrying. So, a lot of things are happening, you know, just happening. This Asma Apu's (sister Asma's) husband, he works in a private company. Apu's eldest son is studying Hafezi (memorizing the Quran), and she asked for prayers for him. He doesn't go to the village much, because going to the village can cause problems, so he doesn't visit his in-laws' village much. They are currently in Gazipur, that's what they informed us. Actually, many things happen in the world. We previously mentioned an incident in a dream, where it seemed to happen in a dream, but it had real-world effects. These kinds of events are very rare, very few are found. Actually, are dreams always just dreams? The mystery remains. There are so many mysteries in the world that we still haven't unraveled. So, when we go to sleep, we should recite the prayer for sleep, recite Ayatul Kursi and blow on our bodies, recite the four Quls (chapters of the Quran) and blow on our bodies. Hopefully, Allah will protect us from these kinds of dangers. Besides, there are very few ways to avoid these kinds of mysterious, paranormal things. Whatever religion we belong to, if we follow the tenets of that religion and wake up, go to sleep, and conduct our daily lives accordingly, InshaAllah (God willing), we will be able to survive. May Allah protect us from these kinds of dangers.
