Get off the bus

It’s natural to experience some anxiety when traveling long distances; when leaving the safety of familiar territory, disrupting the rhythm of our daily routines, and having to be in the right place at the right time with the risk of missing an important trip. And traveling can be expensive; once a trip has been booked and paid for, an alternate means of transportation may be unaffordable, if even available.

There also is always the possibility of an accident, but that’s usually the least of our worries.

But the reality is that we find ourselves in a very vulnerable position when we travel. Whether flying in a plane, several miles up in the air, sailing on a ship, surrounded by miles-deep water, or riding on a train or bus–a multi-ton metal capsule, hurdling forward at high speeds with little room for error–the price of traveling long distances over short periods of time is always a greater risk to our safety.

Accidents seldom happen because professionals are trained to handle their vehicles in all kinds of foreseeable circumstances. Unfortunately, some emergencies can neither be planned for nor handled once they occur, at which point the survival of all on board becomes entirely a matter of chance.

However, rumor has it that some of these tragedies can be foreseen–even avoided–if an individual is able to recognize the omen.

You’ll see a figure, dressed in white, always sitting or standing alone. They may wear a hood or a hat, or even hold an object like a newspaper or magazine, but they’ll somehow manage to obscure their face. Though they might relocate within the vehicle, you’ll never see them move; not even to turn their head or lean to one side. If, in one instant, the figure is standing at the front of the vehicle, in the next, they could be sitting at the very back. But no one seated near them will appear to notice their presence.

The appearance of this figure is a sign that something terrible is about to happen, which could only be described as a freak accident. Though, it isn’t certain that everyone on board will die. We know about this phenomenon because some people have lived to tell about it, but none of them could describe the figure’s face, and neither trip logs nor surveillance footage has ever been able to confirm the figure’s existence.

When traveling, if ever you see the passenger in white before your trip departs, get off while you still can. It doesn’t matter if the money you’ve spent on the trip is irredeemable, it doesn’t even matter if the loss will bankrupt you–it isn’t worth it. If you see the passenger in white on a trip that’s already en route and you’re able to get out of the vehicle, get out as soon as possible. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the middle of nowhere, a thousand miles away from your destination–it isn’t worth it.

It isn’t just another passenger–it isn’t human. I don’t know what it is, but it’s evil.
