The Boy
The boy would be safe here, tucked up inside the toy cupboard. Surely, he would be safe. He had no idea what was going on outside now that Mummy and Daddy had stopped screaming, and the men had stopped shouting. The remaining sounds, the snarls and the wet ripping noises, were alien to him, made more terrifying by their relative quiet in comparison to the storm of screams that had gone before.

'You Should Stop Reading All Those Ted Bundy Biographies'
This chapter seems relatively pointless in regards to the narrative of the book. Oddly, however, I think this is the point. Ellis wants us to sit through the pointless exchanges between Bateman and his associates to establish a real difference between us as readers and the character archetypes that he has given us. Because this chapter is just one big irrelevant exchange about unimportant things. But to Bateman, the topics covered at Harry's (a gentleman's club) are of the utmost importance.

Too Late for Love
Sometimes love doesn’t come when we think it should. The knight in shining armor isn’t going to save us when we need him the most. Sometimes he doesn’t come at all. Sometimes when he shows up we don’t recognize him, and then we lose the opportunity of a lifetime. Sometimes life and living just gets in the way. And sometimes… it is death that brings us together.

The Shattered Mirrors
I sat alone in a darkened room. The light flickered through the window due to the odd car that flew past at high speed. The quiet yet deafening tick of the clock spread throughout the rooms of this forbidden house, the creaking of wooden floorboards groaning above me while I read. The dusted parchments littered the floor and my legs as I scanned through them, a curious fleck of amazement flickering in my sharp blue eyes that absorbed the information carefully spread across the paper.

Movie Review: 'Hereditary'
Hereditary is a shocking and deeply unsettling horror thriller. Writer-director Ari Ascher’s remarkable attention to detail in production design, cinematography, and even character blocking, where a character is positioned in the frame, contributes to the brilliance of Hereditary. That the film also features a career-best performance from Toni Collette only underlines the genius at play in Hereditary.

Demons: What Are They?
I wanted to add this, and I feel the best place to do that is here, before showing the various theories. The study of demons like I have been doing is referred to as Demonology. Now, as intimidating as that sounds, know that it literally means the “study of demons.” I would call myself a ‘Christian Demonologist.’ This title is more fitting for me because the general term of Demonologist by itself can easily be associated with the occult.

“Unheimlich YoU"
You woke up suddenly, startled and confused, groggy, as your eyes adjust to the bright shafts of daylight stabbing at your eyes. Daylight? What were you doing sleeping? Weren’t you supposed to be at class? What time was, is it? You pause to take in your surroundings, unsure of where, when, or why, or even where on campus you are. Rubbing sleep from your eyes, you realize you’re lying on green grass, freshly cut and finely manicured, and, off in the distance—the bell tower. As you ponder this, you stretch your neck, uncomfortable from sleeping on your own book bag.

My First Paranormal Experience
My first paranormal experience impacted me in ways I wouldn’t realize until years later. Several years ago, four friends and I went to the local McDonalds. My friends were all either pagan or atheist. I was the only Christian in the group, but I was not very devout at the time. We had just finished eating. As the evening went on, one of my buddies explained to us that there was a “portal” that needed to be closed at a nearby park. I asked him what he meant by “portal”, and he explained to me that he believed a gateway between our world and hell was open. At the time, I didn’t believe him. And although I did believe demons existed, I did not believe a portal was open. I thought this guy just wanted attention. So, I explained to the group that if we really were going to go, perhaps we should be better prepared. Every fiber of my being told me this was a stupid idea, but I left with them anyway. Despite feeling weary of this trip, I was extremely curious.

Texas Gothic
The rain hadn’t stopped for days. On the fourth day, I was staring out my window in a haze of boredom as cloudy as the sky above my two-story, cookie-cutter home. Lying on my right side with my head upon an absurd mountain of pillows offers perfect high-definition viewing of the street I live on. My siblings chattered down the hall in their rooms, my brother to his online DND friends and my sister enacting glamourous lives through her Barbie dolls. The family cat wanders into view and rubs against the old tree in our front yard, and the weird neighbor who is obsessed with our cat (a long story), walks up to pet him. Why is he out in the drizzle? I don’t know. He’s a weirdo.

Beautiful Nightmare Part 3
"Please... I'm sorry." I pause and look up from where I'm cleaning the blood off the 'tail in the attached bathroom. Mariah is a sight to behold, dripping blood from multiple open welts that dot the once pristine landscape of her body. She looks good like that, all open and sore and filled with agony.
