I'm Beyond Excited for Stephen King's The Long Walk Film Adaptation
I am a huge fan of this King novel...

I barely read Stephen King's The Long Walk this year. I was in shock with how tragic and brutal the novel was, and once I heard about the film adaptation coming out this year, I lost my mind. I was pretty worried about how the film was going to look once the trailer eventually came around, but wow, my expectations were proven wrong once I saw the trailer.
The Long Walk is meant to be a gritty tale that will get under your skin, and from the small bits I had seen in the trailer, I think the director did a fantastic job. The Long Walk follows the story of a large group of kids who embark on a tough competition. The kids must walk for miles and miles, until the last kid is standing.
Of course, this being a Stephen King novel, I knew the consequences for the losers was going to be severe. Sure enough, once I heard that an army was going to follow the kids around, I knew this story was going to take a huge toll on me. The novel is so messed up, and you feel will so sorry for those kids who participate in the contest.
I also love how the kids are already familiar with the contest, and are aware of the consequences if they stop walking. The soldiers will be forced to put any walker down without mercy, as the kids beg for their lives. I'm so curious how the film is going to tackle the walking sequences during the film.
Especially...the parts where the kids have to use the bathroom. And guess what? You cannot stop walking. Or you will be killed on sight. So...the kids in the book had to improvise whenever they had to use the restroom. And damn, it was so hard to read all of those parts. How several of the kids were able to keep their high spirits was so sad and hard to read, because I knew not all of them were going to live.
I'm also so thrilled to learn who is going to be playing the main villain.

During the walk, we are also introduced to the general, a man who started this competition in the first place. The winner will receive a lot of money for themselves and their families, and they will live proper for the rest of their days. I love how King doesn't hesitate to establish the reason why the kids are taking part in this messed up contest, and it's even more crazy that the dude who started it all is going to be there watching the kids.
I was so happy to hear that Mark Hamill is going to be playing the villain.
It's so cool to see an iconic actor that appeared in one of the best Sci - Fi trilogies of all time is now appearing in the horror genre.
Kind of like Nicholas Cage, who made a drastic change in his career too.
I love how the trailers have barely given horror fans a snippet of his character. Watching him yell at the kids, encouraging them like soldiers going to war is kind of depressing and terrifying. I'm so curious how the gore is going to be portrayed in the film too...I saw one moment in the trailer that really freaked me out.
It's not going to be easy to watch...and that is what I'm hoping for.
If you guys haven't read the novel, I highly recommend the book! It's a horror masterpiece, and one of Stephen King's best! It's a tough read, but it's an awesome story!
