I had an interview, it was with a tech company in a new building somewhere near Centre Point in London, and it looked like a tower of frosted glass.
I was not sure why they wanted me; I hadn't applied for a position, but the implications were that it may be a step up for me. No one called me or spoke to me, they sent a letter, with the address of the building and a keycard to give me access to the building, with the numbers 4-8 14:30 03/06/25 on the card.
I assumed that was where I was going, and the letter confirmed it, saying the card contained the location and the time of the interview.
I got to the building and it was very impressive, but although it was all glass, you could not see inside, apart from the impression that there were lights on.
At the entrance, there was a key reader which let me in and shut the doors immediately. There was no one that I could see in the building. I walked to the set of gates that opened for me and shut behind me. There were no stairs, so I went to what looked like lift doors that whirred and opened.
I got in the lift, but there were no buttons, the doors closed, and it went up.... I think. Then the doors opened and I walked out into a long corridor I looked behind me, and where I thought the lift was, was just a door. The corridor was filled with them, but none had any numbers.
I tried the door where I thought the lift was, and it opened into a room, concrete floors and walls and a frosted window to the outside which let light in but you could not see out of.
This was where I thought the lift was, and I had to find the interview and I hoped my card would guide me. I looked at my phone and it was frozen, unusable. It must be the building.
I counted eight doors from the start of the corridor and went into the room. It was exactly the same as the first one I had entered. This was getting worrying.
I tried each room in that corridor, and everyone was the same, empty.
I could not find the lift, and there were no stairs. I was stuck here with no way to communicate with the outside world.
I went into a room and tried to smash a window, but I had no tools and my fists had no effect.
This level was empty apart from me. Come to think of it, the building was empty. I had seen no one since coming in.
I still had my letter and the card, but when I looked at them now they were blank. What the hell was going on?
I felt myself fading like the characters on the card.
My situation was hopeless.
I was stuck on the empty fourth floor of a building with no hope of escape.
If I screamed, there was no one there to hear me.
Was I in some kind of hell or limbo? Was I going to die of hunger, thirst or depression?
It was getting toward night as the windows in the rooms were dark, but the lights were coming on.
There should always be hope, but I had none. There was no way out. I just had to wait and let myself fade out of existence. This was not the end that I imagined.
I had been murdered by the most evil insidious technology.

Omgggg, this was soooo scaryyyy! I wouldn't wanna be stuck in that kinda situation
Awesome!!!
Wow !!! It is like your worst nightmare coming true. It reveals a dark side of technology that few consider, as we are so consumed by the 'glory' it brings us. I think the worst is yet to come.
The very essence of my favorite word circumscribing all my existence: evanescence!
I've had dreams like this
A true nightmare this story is for just thought of entering a building and no one around does give one a creepy sensation even for a fiction story. Good job.
