Getting no sleep is nothing new for Ethan, he could lay in bed for hours with his eyes closed shut to no avail. Too much on the twenty year old boys mind, his mind was fragile. He was an outsider trying to fit in, he always felt like he never belonged. His father abandon him when he was young and Ethan never knew who his mother was. Ethan's grandma took care of him, but recently she started to forget things. His aunts and uncles decided it was best to put her in a nursing home. The thought of her suffering in their killed Ethan, she was always kind to him and made him feel like he did belong.

Ethan lays in bed, the time was eleven-thirty at night and he still had no rest. He was growing angry at himself because he still had to be up at four in the morning to go to work. His girlfriend laid to the side of him snoring away. She was always a deep sleeper and often fell to a slumber pretty quickly. Think of something, Ethan thinks to himself. His belly begins to growl, maybe if he ate something he would fall asleep.

He quietly gets up and leaves the room. The house is completely dark, he owned no animals so the house was quiet like usual. He feels a cold breeze sweep across the living room. "Must have been Suzie." Ethan mumbles to himself. He goes over the window and sees that it was left open. He looks outside at the dark street and sees nothing but darkness. He shuts the window down and feels a presence behind. Quickly he shines his cell phone as he turns around. Nothing was there as the hair on the back of his neck now relax. He walks over to the front door and turns on the living room light, the house is not so dark anymore. Nothing to be afraid of, Ethan thinks to himself.

He rushes to the kitchen with an empty belly and grabs all the ingredients, which is milk, a bowl, and some cereal. Ethan never learned how to cook, he never bothered to. The laziness no doubt had corrupted his young mind, that was the excuse Ethan ran with at least. Was the whole reason why he never learned to drive in the first place.

Carrying the bowl in one hand and the tv remote in the other, Ethan tries to balance everything while he makes it to the couch. He spills a little bit of the milk from the bowl while swaying side to side while he sits down. The milk splatters on the floor, Ethan is relief because it just missed the couch. "I'll clean it up later."

Some time has passed and the lights have all turned off. Ethan fell asleep while watching some boring documentary on the television. The tv was on a timer as well, turning off in two hours of no activity. The wooden floors creak like if a heavy foot step walks on them. A door opens and slams. The slam echoes throughout the house and awakes Ethan, he flinches from the loud sound. "Babe was that you. Why did you slam the door." He gets up stretching and yawns. Walks to the bedroom and opens the door. When he enters the room, he notices that the closet door is open. Ethan's closet is a walk-in, not the biggest but it's a good size. He turns the light switch on, the light bulb turns on for a quick second but immediately shuts off. Ethan tries to flip it back on and off but the light bulb refuses to turn back on.

The closet door slams and Ethan gets spooked. He looks over but has a hard time seeing in the dark. "Babe." Ethan whispers to get a response.

"Yes" A voice responds back.

"What are you doing." Ethan voice becomes shaky. A hand grabs his ankle and Ethan jumps backwards like a cat. He looks down and sees his girlfriend Suzie underneath the bed. She covers her and motions for him to be quiet. Ethan joins her underneath the bed and begins to whisper. "What the hell you doing underneath here."

"Their is somebody." She pauses for a moment and looks around. "I saw something." The lights flicker back on. Suzie begins to shake and hides behind Ethan.

"It's just you and me. Their is nobody out there." She looks at him in disbelief.

"You don't. You don't believe me." Suzie stutters. Ethan gets up from underneath the bed.

"Their is nothing here. Babe, monsters don't exist." He goes over to the closet. Ethan looks back at Suzie who is still hiding underneath the bed. He takes a deep breath and opens the closet door from a distance. The door slowly creeps open. He turns the closet light on. Clothes are thrown all over the floor and Suzie's make up is scattered all around the carpet. "You must have been sleep walking babe."

"When have I ever sleep walked." Ethan goes inside the closet. "Don't." Suzie voice fades into the background. Ethan begins to pick up his clothes, he notices the pictures on the floor. A lovely photograph of him and Suzie, at the Grand Canyon. She seemed so happy there, lately it's just been fights every time he enters the room. The distance has been growing between them which explains the lack of rest recently, Ethan had no idea how much longer the suffering would last. Their relationship was dying, he couldn't help but feel responsible for it. He knew what he had done, pushed Suzie away and blamed her for his unhappiness with himself. All the rotten things in his life had began to overbear him with sadness, isolation could be the only option for him, he thought to himself. Ethan begins to sob and his tears fall on to the photograph.

All the lights in the room cut off, darkness consumes the house. Suzie screams. "Ethan." He looks back at her and the closet door shuts in his face. His breathing becomes heavy and he looks around searching for some sort of light. He grabs the door nob frantically and tries to open the door, it's locked. He bangs on the door.

He shouts. "Babe open the door. This isn't funny anymore." She cries as she tries to open the door.

"The door won't open. I can't." She screams again. "Ethan." He gives up and sits down on the ground, his head hanging low in defeat. Ethan feels the dark and scary presence again, the same feeling he felt when he was in the living room. The same presence he felt all of his life, this person had been watching for a long time. He looks up, he tries to be brave as he opens his eyes. A tall and long limbed figure stands above him, the tall figure had short hair. Hair that come down to there shoulders. The whole body was covered in a black cloak, this seemed to be what death was.

The unknow voice whispers. "Are you afraid." Ethan stands up and shakes his head no. "Are you sure." The face comes closer and reveals their face. Skin was paler than anything Ethan had ever seen, the creature smiles and shows off disgusting decomposing teeth. The teeth look so sharp and big that it could probably take a chunk out of Ethan's face if it wanted to. "I want you to come with me." Their voice becomes angry. "What. I sense something is making you want to stay."

Ethan is terrified as he is left speechless. Banging on the door, causes Ethan alarm when he realizes Suzie is still in the house. "Ethan what's going on. I heard another voice in there. Are you okay. Please." She sobs. "Say something."

The tall and mysterious figure disappears. "Suzie hide." Ethan yells to her. The bed is thrown across the room and Ethan loses it when he hears Suzie screaming. He bangs on the door and yells to be let out. "Don't hurt her. Don't you dare fucking touch her." He wipes the tears from his eyes. "I do anything you want. Please." The closet door creaks open, Ethan sees Suzie on the ground. He runs over to her and holds her body in his arms while the angel of death floats above him. Suzie opens her eyes. Even with all that has happened, she still manages to crack a smile at him. The smile he had seen when they first met each other.

"You were so beautiful that day. You're still beautiful till this day. I got to go away for awhile." His voice begins to choke up and his lip begins to quiver. "I would do anything for you." He gets up and lets go of Suzie. She looks up at him. The angel of the death grabs Ethan and wraps her arms around him. She wraps her dark cloak around Ethan and herself, just like that the two disappear into a dark dust that evaporates in a couple of seconds.

A few years later, life has moved on. Suzie now lives on her own in a new town where nobody knows who she is. Ethan disappeared without a trace and had been labeled missing from the police, a worldwide searched had been place but no one knew where he could be. Some said he simply decided to walk away and wanted no one to know where he was headed. Others claimed to have seen him, but Suzie knew that was impossible. She hoped wherever he had ended up that he was happy, maybe he was thinking about her too. She turns off the lights begins to fall asleep.

A familiar voice speaks to her while she is sleeping. "You were so beautiful that day." She opens her eyes and begins to breathe heavily as she sees a black cloak lay to the side of her.
